Technology training for SMEs
Small and medium size firms in the tourism industry could make more use of the internet according to VisitBritain.
The marketing organisation is launching a training programme to help businesses improve B to C and B to B marketing through internet and email. The training includes developing websites, improving customer service and developing marketing strategies.
VisitBritain is calling the initiative Welcome E-business. The courses, which are being run by regional tourist boards, are being held all over the UK. The first took place yesterday (7 May) in York, run by the Yorkshire Tourist Board. A spokesperson told TravelMole the event had been a success and was attended by 15 people from local tourism businesses. It cost £65 plus VAT to attend.
VisitBritain head of e-tourism development, Andrew Duff said he hoped the courses would encourage small and medium-sized tourism businesses to work together on marketing initiatives.
Welcome E-business is being part-funded by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport and the Small Business Service. Anyone interested in the courses should call Sue Gill on 023 8062 5435 to find out the details of their local training course.
