The George, Christchurch wins Best Business Hotel in New Zealand
The George, Christchurch has won Best Business Hotel in New Zealand in the 8th Annual Best Business Hotels award run by Business Asia magazine.
The award voting process was conducted over four months, with on-line voting, and ballot papers in Business Asia magazine.
Chairman of Business Asia’s publisher, First Charlton Communications, Peter Charlton said this was the most prestigious award to win in the Asia-Pacific hotel industry.
Bruce Garrett, General Manager of The George said the award was a reflection of The George’s ongoing commitment to superb service and attention to detail, as well as its excellent meeting facilities, cuisine and parkside city location in Christchurch.
The success adds to an already outstanding year for The George. In August it was voted one of only two best New Zealand hotels in Travel + Leisure magazine’s top 25 hotels in New Zealand, Australia and the South Pacific survey. As well, Executive Chef, Nathan Bates was named South Island Chef of the Year at Salon Culinaire competitions, and the hotel celebrated the opening of its new contemporary-design lobby and 50 on Park restaurant and bar.
This is the seventh international award for The George in three years. Travel+ Leisure magazine named The George one of the 500 Best Hotels in the World for both 2003 and 2004, and one of the world’s top 80 hotels and top 10 in Australia, New Zealand and South Pacific 2004 for service. The magazine’s readers also awarded The George, Best Hotel in New Zealand 2002. The same year Business Asia magazine readers also chose The George as The Best Business Hotel in Asia (New Zealand section).
