Thousands disrupted as German airport workers strike
There is more travel misery at German airports today.
Ground staff working for Lufthansa walked out at five airports, causing hundreds of flight cancellations and delays.
The airline says it could impact up to 100,000 passengers.
Verdi union members at Frankfurt, Munich, Hamburg, Berlin, and Duesseldorf airports walked out early on Wednesday due to an ongoing pay dispute.
It affects check-in, ground handling and maintenance operations.
Only about one in five flights are expected to run at the two busiest airports, Frankfurt and Munich.
Booked passengers have been advised by Lufthansa not to show up at the airport unless they have been informed their flight will operate as scheduled.
However, Lufthansa subsidiary airline Eurowings is expecting to operate its flight schedule as normal.
Union Verdi is seeking a pay increase of 12.5% for staff.
