Tour group finds new focus: single market
Austin-Lehman Adventure Company next year will begin giving solo travelers the chance to join specially designated single-only departures.
Said Dan Austin, founding partner and director of operations:
“There are so many single men and women ensconced in their professional lives who just want to get away and may not have the time or inclination to find a companion to travel with them.”
So do singles have to pay higher rates?
No, said Mr Austin.
Single travelers can let the company know they want a roommate at the time of booking. If Austin-Lehman can’t fine one, the traveler still gets a private room but also receives a half price of the usual single supplement price.
Austin-Lehman also added eight new trips to its programs next year, including Chiapas, Mexico; Oregon’s Crater Lake; and two wine regions, one in California and one in British Columbia.
Austin-Lehman specializes in upscale multi-sport adventures to destinations throughout the Americas. Many trips are six-days and five-nights, and combine guided outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, rafting, canoeing and horseback riding. Gourmet restaurants are often dining destinations.
The company offers 220 trips to 70 worldwide destinations.
