Travel Foundation hatches childrens’ campaign
The Travel Foundation has unveiled a campaign aimed specifically at children.
The charity aims to highlight sustainability and animal welfare through an activity booklet to be handed out by leading tour operators.
‘Hatch’, an animated Hawksbill turtle featured in the booklet, has been launched in conjunction with the Born Free Foundation and the charity’s partners – First Choice, MyTravel, Thomas Cook and Thomson, who will be distributing the booklet this summer. First Choice is handing out ‘Hatch’ to customers on flights, while MyTravel, Thomas Cook and Thomson are distributing the booklet in Kids’ Clubs.
Travel Foundation chief executive Sue Hurdle said: “The launch of ‘Hatch’ is an incredibly exciting time for us and we hope that he will help us inspire children – and their parents – to help keep holiday destinations special in to the future. The enormous progress that we’ve made in the last year has been terrific, and I thank our partners for their continuing support.”
Born Free Foundation CEO Will Travers added: “This new initiative is a fantastic step forward in helping children to learn about sustainability and animal welfare in a stimulating and fun way.”
First Choice head of corporate social responsibility Jane Ashton said: “We’re looking forward to engaging with our young customers on the part they can play in caring for wildlife and the environment. The ‘Hatch’ booklet combines just the right amount of fun with information that can make a real difference.”
Thomas Cook managing director of specialist businesses Ian Ailles said: “’Hatch’ is the perfect mascot to highlight the importance of sustainable tourism. It’s a great way to communicate our initiatives to both a younger audience and their parents. Responsible travel is climbing the agenda and we’re sure that ‘Hatch’ will bring even greater understanding and interest among holidaymakers in destinations all over the world.”
