TUI adds 580,000 seats for winter 2020

TUI has added more than half a million extra seats for winter 2020, with the majority of growth focused on long-haul destinations, the Canaries and Egypt following the lifting of the flight ban to Sharm el Sheikh.

It will offer an additional 180,000 seats to long-haul destinations alone, having added extra flights from Manchester, Gatwick and Doncaster Sheffield to popular locations including Goa, Dominican Republic, Mexico and Barbados.

Launching its winter 2020 programme today, the operator said the new flights reflect the higher demand for both family and adult long-haul breaks, including during the Christmas and February half term holidays.

It has also added a further 400,000 return seats to its short and mid-haul flying programme, with the majority focussed in the Canaries and Egypt, as well as to the increasingly popular African islands of Cape Verde (above).

The operator said there would be further growth on long-haul routes for summer 2021, with 80,000 additional seats already added. This includes extra flying days from Manchester, Gatwick, Glasgow and Newcastle to Florida, alongside Barbados and Mexico.

Greece, Turkey, the Canaries and Balearics will also see ‘significant’ growth in summer 2021, added TUI. It has recently added 135 Thomas Cook hotels to its programme.

Following the news that the first TUI flights back to the Red Sea resort of Sharm El Sheikh will depart in February 2020, the holiday company has confirmed that this will extend into winter 2020 and beyond.

Four hotels are now on sale in Sharm, including the TUI Magic Life and the Reef Oasis Blue Bay, with more to be added later, said TUI.

From next May, TUI BLUE become TUI Group’s global flagship hotel brand with TUI Family Life and TUI Sensimar hotels rebranded and moved into a newly expanded TUI BLUE range.
