TV travel agency hits the screens
TV and online travel agency Travel Deals Direct has started screening deals.
The company is using Sky satellite channel 647 and its website www.TravelDealsDirect.com to offer holiday, hotel, flight and city break deals.
The website supports the TV channel and shows all the TV specials.
Part of Travel Channel International, the company claims to be the only fully independent TV-based travel agent in the UK offering holidays from multiple suppliers.
The transactional side of the website is powered by Traveltek. A call centre and the fulfilment of all bookings is handled by Newcastle-based Monstertravel.
Alongside the deal-based coverage, the channel also screens reviews of destinations and resorts and provides travel advice.
Former lastminute.com managing director John Bevan has joined as project director to oversee the launch.
Travel Deals Direct provides mainstream and specialist tour operators, hotels, cruise, ski, city breaks and adventure holidays, plus flights from low-cost, scheduled and charter airlines.
Bevan said: “Travel Deals Direct is an independently owned company and so can showcase products from different suppliers in an unbiased and transparent way – and with the backing of a well-established parent company plus full ATOL bonding we’re in a very strong position to give the consumer a truly tangible reason to book their summer holiday with us.”
“On top of price-led coverage, Travel Deals Direct will be informative and, topical, dealing with developments around the world relevant to travel, as well as advising on how to find the best deals. The channel will be more than a series of pretty destination reviews
“All offers and promotions will be best in class, it may well be price-led but also through increased service, added benefits, or exclusive offers,”
Travel Channel International chief executive Richard Wolfe said: “In the current economic climate consumers are looking more and more for advice and guidance on getting the very best possible deal from independent experts, which is where we come in.”
