Two crew members injured on turbulent flight
Two cabin crew members were injured during a turbulent flight bound for London.
The flight departed Corfu and just 20 minutes into the flight was hit by severe turbulence.
Due to injuries, the pilot diverted the plane to Rome Fiumicino Airport, and landed safely without incident.
The plane was carrying 181 passengers and crew.
The two injured crew members were flung into the cabin walls, according to news reports.
“The flight experienced turbulence which unfortunately injured two cabin crew members,” easyJet said.
“As a result, the captain decided to divert the flight to Rome, where the flight attendants received medical assistance.”
“Given the type and severity of the injuries reported, we have initiated a safety investigation,” Italian air safety agency ANSV said.
ANSV said it will also probe why the pilot opted to fly to Rome and not to closer airports in Bari or Brindisi.
