Two Disney ships repositioned

One of Disney’s two ships is returning to Port Canaveral while another has gone back to the West coast for the summer of next year where it will continue popular seven-night Mexican Riviera sailings.

“Disney Cruise Line developed the special itinerary in response to overwhelmingly positive feedback about its original West Coast sailings in 2005 and requests from guests who want to see the ship once again departing from the Port of Los Angeles,” Disney says.

“We have a significant Disney Cruise Line fan base on the West Coast, and we look forward to taking the Disney Magic back to the Port of Los Angeles in 2008,” said Disney Cruise Line President Tom McAlpin.

The Disney Magic is scheduled to sail 12 consecutive seven-night cruise vacations from the Port of Los Angeles to the Mexican Riviera ports of Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlán and Puerto Vallarta.

The second Disney ship has returned to Port Canaveral after a summer of sailing the Mediterranean.

The 2,700-passenger ship returned to Brevard County from Barcelona and began a fall schedule of seven-night eastern and western Caribbean cruises.

Disney’s agreement gives it exclusive use of the nearly $30 million cruise terminal in Canaveral with the stipulation the cruise line meet “call” requirements, say terminal officials.

When Disney first launched its Cruise Line, the 3-and-4-day cruises were the only options available. Disney has added seven day cruises but points out the shorter trips are particularly popular with first-time cruisers finding their comfort level.

”These cruises are also very popular as an addition to a land-based vacation at Walt Disney World. Many guests start out staying at a Disney resort and move on to finish their vacation with a trip on board the Disney Cruise Line,” the company says.
