Taiwan officials have filed charges against two air traffic controllers with negligence over the TransAsia air crash that killed 49 people in 2014.
Flight GE222 plunged into a residential area when attempting to land at Magong city airport in the Penghu islands.
Authorities also blamed the two pilots but they both died in the crash.
The Penghu District Prosecutors Office charged senior duty officer Col. Ching Yuan-yu and Li Chia-feng who was overseeing air traffic operations at the time of the accident.
If found guilty they could be jailed for up to five years.
Both men engaged in a 12-minute discussion over whether to give approval to land as the region had just been buffeted by a typhoon.
TransAsia issued a statement saying it had offered ‘complete cooperation’ with the investigation.
