UK braced for more travel disruption as Storm Jocelyn closes in

Tuesday, 23 Jan, 2024 0

After Isha, it is now the turn of Storm Jocelyn to play havoc with travel plans.

More Amber warnings are in effect as the UK is braced for a new storm.

It is set to bring strong winds of up to 80 mph and heavy rain from today as rail operator TransPennine Express warned against travel between England and Scotland from this afternoon.

“Services across the rest of the network are expected to be impacted, we strongly recommend you check before you travel and plan ahead,” TransPennine Express said.

British Airways cancelled 10 flights so far on Tuesday, mostly to and from London Heathrow.

“Like other airlines, we have had to make schedule adjustments due to the adverse weather conditions.”

“We’ve apologised to our customers and our teams are working hard to get them on their way as quickly as possible.”

Ryanair said ‘potential disruptions’ are likely.

“Affected passengers will be notified. We regret any inconvenience caused.”

Avanti West Coast urged rail travellers to bring forward cross-border trips before mid-afternoon.

There will be no trains between England and Scotland from around 3pm today until Wednesday afternoon.

It expects the last London Euston to Glasgow Central departure at 3.30pm to be very busy.

The last departure out of Glasgow and Edinburgh will be before 5pm.

At least four people died as a result of the Storm Isha impact.
