UK hotel chain in £6.3m investment programme
A multi-million pound investment programme has been unveiled by Oxford Hotels & Inns across its chain of 60 hotels.
The group, formed last September following the collapse of London & Edinburgh Inns, announced a £4 million development scheme, which is already underway.
A further £2.3m upgrading across the chain is due to commence later in the year.
The investment programme, which extends across properties in England, Scotland and Wales, will see major refurbishment and improvement at existing hotels.
Selected new sites are also to be acquired as the company looks to cement its position as a leading UK hotel operator.
A centralised online booking service is also being launched.
Current developments comprise the recent purchase of Stonefield Castle on Loch Fyne and overhauls across the Scottish portfolio which includes the Gleddoch Country House Hotel near Glasgow, the Huntly Arms in Aberdeen and the Carnoustie Golf Hotel, home to this year’s British Open Golf Championship.
The company’s managing director Mark Edwards said: “Our expansion plan is a key development in our programme to firmly establish ourselves in the UK.
“We currently have more than 60 hotels across the country and are looking to improve a number of our properties which include refurbishments and expansions within our existing portfolio and, where appropriate, strategic and selective acquisitions.”
The chain has also joined forces with the AA to effectively develop its hotels via the Hotel Recognition Scheme.
Edwards said: “Forging links with the AA has been an essential step in our move towards becoming an established UK brand. We are looking forward to receiving the results of their inspections to help us fine tune our offering.”
