United, Delta issue waivers for Tokyo flights
Following the runway collision at Tokyo Haneda Airport, United Airlines and Delta have issued waivers for passengers.
The airlines will allow customers on booked Tokyo flights to reschedule their travel without fees.
For Delta fliers, the rebooked travel must begin by January 7 and by until January 9 for United customers.
Five people died when a small coastguard plane collided with a Japan Airlines commercial jet at the airport.
Five of the six crew on the coastguard plane died.
All 370 passengers and cabin crew aboard the JAL flight were evacuated safely as it caught fire.
Tokyo Haneda Airport then shut down all runways and suspended all flights.
It has partially reopened but more than 150 flights for today were cancelled.
