United faces lawsuit over Denver engine failure
The catastrophic engine failure of a United Airlines Boeing 777 above Denver has attracted a class action lawsuit.
Chad Schnell, a passenger on United Airlines flight 328 ‘seeks to recover for negligent infliction of emotional distress on behalf of himself and all other passengers on board who are similarly situated,’ the suit states.
The complaint says United failed to properly inspect and maintain its aircraft which resulted in engine failure.
"No one should have to live through that as a result of an airline’s refusal to take proper care of its planes and its customers, and I look forward to forcing United to make it right as best is possible," said attorney Jonathon Corbett.
In response, United said in a statement: "Safety remains our highest priority – for our employees and our customers. We are proud of our employees’ care for our customers and steadfast dedication to safety."
A Pratt & Whitney engine exploded mid-air causing a fire and raining down engine debris on the suburb of Broomfield.
The plane was forced to return to Denver International Airport for an emergency landing.
No passengers or crew were injured, although some of the debris landed just a few feet from homes.
