United rolls out seat reassignment app feature

United rolls out seat reassignment app feature

Monday, 12 Aug, 2024 0

United Airlines has rolled out a new feature allowing fliers to request a preferred seat type.

It is available via the United app for customers to request a preferred seat for free and get automatically reassigned.

United says last month it switched more than 18,000 passengers to their preferred seat – nearly 40% of eligible passengers.

To use the feature, customers can request a desired seat in the mobile app if the preferred seat type isn’t available at the time of booking.

They then need to select where they would like to sit, including preferences for window or aisle seats, exit rows or bulkhead seats.

If the preferred seat type becomes available, customers will be automatically assigned and notified about the new seat assignment.

United says it is the first and only US airline to offer the seat preference app feature.

Up to three million users interact with the United mobile app daily, the airline says.
