United says Taylor Swift fans driving travel demand
United Airlines says it has seen a bump in ticket sales thanks to Swifties.
Ticket sales on United routes for concert dates on Taylor Swift’s US tour have driven demand by about 25%.
It says flights to Indianapolis, Miami and New Orleans are already at least 70% full for dates close to the concerts.
Ordinarily, flights to these cities would normally be about 50% booked, it says.
Data firm QuestionPro estimates overall spending during Swift’s Eras Tour could add about $5 billion to the global economy.
United hasn’t yet added any more flights for the concert dates, but Southwest Airlines has.
Southwest said it would lay on extra capacity for Swift’s Miami and New Orleans shows in October.
Overall. Southwest is adding an extra 10 flights.
