The terror threats for the time being are over and the government has no plans to ground more planes, US officials said. No arrests were made and no weapons were seized during the cancellation of several flights. Did the actions taken deter any attacks? Government officials said they were not sure. “We didn’t have quite the specificity with regard to the nature of the attacks,” said US Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge, who was quoted in various news accounts. There are no immediate plans to ground any more flights, said White House spokesman Scott McClellan. Meanwhile, the British Airplane pilots Association condemned the “erratic” way transatlantic flights were grounded because of US intelligence warnings. Six flights to the US from Britain and France were cancelled over a two-day period after the CIA reported evidence that al-Qaida might release biological or chemical weapons on transatlantic flights.
