Virgin Blue does business in South Australia

Virgin Blue has ramped up its corporate push into Adelaide with the opening today of The Lounge in the Virgin Blue terminal at Adelaide Airport.

It signals a new era for Guests travelling to and from Adelaide and reflects Virgin Blue’s increasing focus on Adelaide’s corporate community.

The airline recently upgraded its lounge offering in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane to provide Guests with an all-inclusive, sophisticated and business friendly facility.

Adelaide is the fourth Virgin Blue destination to have The Lounge which will offer Guests complimentary food and beverages, free wireless internet access, a Business Zone as well as a Relax zone.

Virgin Blue Chief Executive, Brett Godfrey, said, “The decision to open our newest The Lounge in Adelaide was based on a number of factors, including the growing number of corporate accounts we have gained in Adelaide, the enormous support the airline has received from the Adelaide community since our launch and the fact there is a modern new terminal that merits a modern Virgin Blue lounge.”

He continued, “Virgin Blue started off as a primarily niche airline operating out of a marquee on the side of the runway at Adelaide International airport.  We have come far in our evolution as a New World Carrier with a mandate to meet the needs of all who fly on us”.

“The introduction of The Lounge will offer significant benefits for our South Australian travellers, many whom are existing members of The Lounge.”

In the past 12 months, the number of South Australian based corporate clients has increased significantly following the launch of initiatives such as the Velocity loyalty program and web-check, business friendly frequencies on key business routes (Nine per day on Adelaide-Melbourne and five directly daily flights between Adelaide and Sydney) and Virgin Blue’s ongoing old fashioned friendly customer service.

The opening of The Lounge in Adelaide will give all existing members more “bang for their buck” by providing a fourth facility for them to relax or work in during their domestic travels.

Casual or Annual memberships are available, making The Lounge accessible to everyone. Annual membership to The Lounge will be $349 per year (including GST) plus a one off joining fee of $199 (including GST). When members fly, they are also able to invite a Guest to join them in The Lounge, at no additional charge. A single visit pass will be available to any Virgin Blue traveller, subject to comfortable capacity constraints, for $30 (including GST).

Brett Godfrey added, “We are strongly committed to the Adelaide market and today’s opening of our newest The Lounge demonstrates we are serious about Adelaide, we are serious about business and we are serious about being the preferred airline of choice for the people of South Australia.”
