Visit USA launches marketplace for agents
Visit USA Organisation (Australia) in collaboration with TravTrade.com has launched an online marketplace developed to streamline communications and contact between travel agents and visiting American tourism industry professionals before, during and after the Visit USA Expos in Australia in February.
The new platform will have three components:
– An online marketplace where members can network, store and browse brochures, and upload press releases;
– A daily e-newsletter summarising the latest updates to the online marketplace, including new brochures and releases plus upcoming events;
– Connect and follow functionality to stay in touch and up-to-date with members’ profiles and their travel plans.
The daily newsletters will begin one week prior to the February Expos and will continue for the duration of the shows, allowing attendees to supply their news directly to Australian travel agents, and allowing travel agents to familiarise themselves with the exhibitors and connect with visiting attendees.
In addition to streamlining content and communication, the online marketplace does away with the need for paper brochures.
President of the Visit USA Organisation (Australia), Geoffrey Hutton, said: “The fact that the platform cuts back on paper waste is just an added bonus, and part of our ongoing commitment to environmentally sensitive travel.”
At the end of the Visit USA Expos in Australia, members will be able to transfer their marketplace contacts over to the US Travel Association’s platform, called Online Marketplace, in preparation for June’s International Pow Wow event in Las Vegas.
The Visit USA Organisation (Australia) Expos will take place in Perth, Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane from February 13 to 19, 2013.
The event provides a forum for some 2,000 Australian travel agents to meet with more than 55 visiting American representatives from tourism bureaus and travel/tourism providers, make new contacts and stay up to date with the latest news and developments in the American tourism industry.
