Washington, DC hosting next WorldPride

Following the conclusion of WorldPride 2023 in Sydney, hosting duties have been officially been handed over to Washington, DC’s Capital Pride Alliance ahead of WorldPride 2025.

The handover took place during the Sydney closing ceremony on Sunday 5th March.

WorldPride 2025 will take place and will mark 50 years of Pride in Washington, DC.

Visitors to DC for WorldPride 2025 will discover why it’s a top LGBTQ+ destination.

A full program of events will include festivals, parades, and concerts, right in the heart of the city.

There will also be a global sports festival, Human Rights Conference, and rally taking place.

Events throughout WorldPride 2025 will promote the Capital Pride Alliance’s core principles of inclusion, affordability, and celebration.

“CPA is thrilled and honored to be the next host of WorldPride in 2025,” said CPA Executive Director Ryan Bos.

“We are excited for the opportunity to share the best of the Washington, DC region.”

Washington, DC has the largest percentage of residents who identify as LGBTQ+ according to analysis by the Williams Institute at the UCLA School of Law.

There are 36 national and international LGBTQ+ organizations headquartered in DC.

“We are proud that Washington, DC is a place that has been the center of many positive historic milestones,” said Elliott L. Ferguson, II, CEO of Destination DC.

“We welcome visitors to explore our unique culture.”
