Westin issues casting call for runners
More than 400 runners already have applied for a position that combines speed and hospitality: the RunWESTIN concierge.
In an open call for candidates that will run through June 30, Westin is inviting runners to apply for the job, which will take one lucky "experienced, passionate runner" on the road.
The winner will serve as the on-site expert for Westin VIPs participating in the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon, traveling to 10 Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon destinations across the United States, acting as personal coach to the runners, sharing training and race advice, leading warm-up runs, and lending recovery tips.
The key qualifications include a positive, charismatic personality with a natural ability to engage and motivate others, a strong familiarity with social media, and experience in completing multiple marathons.
To apply, candidates must submit an application at www.runwestinconcierge.com and complete Westin’s Running Questionnaire by June 30.
Ten quarter-finalists will be asked to submit a video of up to three minutes that demonstrates their training philosophy.
Five semi-finalists will be invited to interview in person at Starwood Corporate Headquarters, and three finalists will receive a trip to the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon in Chicago to prove that they should be chosen to become the new RunWESTIN Concierge.
The winner will make his or her first appearance at the Philadelphia Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon in September.
The contest is part of Westin’s partnership with the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series, as part of which the hotel is offering a collection of marathon packages.
Starting June 20, the VIP Marathon Package will be available in seven race markets including Montreal, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles. The package includes a pre-race pasta dinner, access to the Westin VIP Recovery Tent, and ice bags delivered to guest rooms post-race.
