The next sailing of Windstar Cruises’ Star Pride has been cancelled after the hull sustained damage when it ran aground off the coast of Panama.
The scheduled December 26 cruise from Puerto Caldera to Colon has been scrapped as the ship was towed to Balboa, Panama for inspections and repairs.
The line said Star Pride guests on that cruise were refunded 100% of their voyage, and given a 100% credit for a future cruise.
The incident happened as the ship anchored at Isla de Coiba, near Panama’s west coast on December 22.
The line posted an announcement on its Facebook page: "Guests were disembarked as scheduled for the day’s private island event. Windstar’s technical team inspected the ship and identified some areas of the hull that are damaged, making the ship unable to sail. At this time we are also cancelling the December 26 Star Pride voyage."
