A cruise ship passenger who went overboard in the Singapore Strait has died, her family says.
Indian national Reeta Sahani, 64 was a non-swimmer.
According to crew members, she deliberately jumped, her son said.
“With the footage we have unfortunately learned that my mother has passed away,” son, Apoorv Sahani, 39, tweeted.
The younger Sahani was not on the ship but has seen CCTV footage.
It is unclear how he was able to determine from it that she is deceased.
The Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre of Singapore conducted a search for the missing woman, but no body has yet been recovered.
Spectrum of the Seas’ overboard detection system was triggered, and the cruise line immediately alerted authorities, Royal Caribbean said.
The ship was returning to port in Singapore and had made it back to the cruise terminal when the overboard alert was issued.
