Celebrity Cruises will not be sanctioned by Hawaii authorities after being accused of breaking state regulations. Video footage showed the Celebrity Edge sailing and anchoring close to the Na Pali coast on Kauai. State regulations ban ships with 50 or more passengers from coming within 3,000 feet of the shore. After local residents filed a complaint last month, state officials opened an investigation. When the 2,908-guest ship docked in Honolulu officers boarded the ship and interviewed the captain. The captain stated the ship remained in deep waters but he was unsure of the exact distance from the shore. Local witnesses were also interviewed but none could say with certainty that the ship had broken the 3,000 feet distance rule. “We determined there is insufficient evidence that supports probable cause or that there is clear and convincing evidence to pursue any criminal or civil action,” a statement said. Hawaii Tourism Authority also assisted in the investigation.

Celebrity Apex has officially marked its debut homeporting in the UK and is the first of Celebrity’s Edge Series ships to call Southampton home. The debut Southampton cruise season is underway with Apex departing on the first eight-night Norwegian Fjords cruise. "We're bringing one of our most innovative ships for Southampton cruises, providing guests the opportunity to sail in style directly from the UK," said Laura Hodges Bethge, President of Celebrity Cruises. "It's an exciting time as we elevate cruising from the region." The season will see a range of Southampton cruises head for Northern Europe and the Canary Islands until October 2024. For the first time, guests aboard Celebrity Reflection visited Royal Caribbean Group earlier this week followed by Celebrity Beyond the next day. Perfect Day at CocoCay is now part of Celebrity Cruises’ new short Caribbean cruise program. “Guest feedback inspired the new shorter Caribbean itineraries, designed to offer year-round opportunities,” said Laura Hodges Bethge, President of Celebrity Cruises. “Introducing Perfect Day at CocoCay presents new experiences for Celebrity guests seeking quick beach getaway escapes.” Perfect Day at CocoCay offers Caribbean cruise guests an adults-only beachfront experience at Hideaway Beach, with a DJ, four bars and island-inspired dining. Celebrity Cruises has reveled the name of its upcoming fifth Edge-series ship. It will be named Celebrity Xcel. The new cruise ship is under construction and dur to launch in 2025. "The Edge Series has shattered preconceived notions of cruising. I am thrilled to announce our next bold step as a brand with Celebrity Xcel,” said Laura Hodges Bethge, President of Celebrity. The ship will offer upgraded services and amenities compared to other Edge ships, but the line is yet to share details. Accommodations will include two-story villas with private plunge pools, a larger Rooftop Garden and the Retreat exclusive resort area. Celebrity Xcel will debut in late 2025 on Caribbean cruises with a winter season out of Fort Lauderdale. It will sail seven-night alternating Caribbean cruises to the Bahamas, Mexico, and the Cayman Islands, and Puerto Plata, St. Thomas, and St. Maarten.

Port Canaveral will become home for Celebrity Equinox in late 2024. Celebrity expands sailings to the Caribbean starting December 3, 2024, through April 19, 2025 with Port Canaveral homeporting. The Port has now gained the status as the world's busiest cruise hub. "We are thrilled to welcome Celebrity Cruises as our new partner to be part of their Caribbean cruise expansion plans," said Capt. John Murray, Port Canaveral CEO. "The demand for Celebrity Cruise sailings from our Port has been growing." Celebrity Equinox will offer 20 new itineraries spanning seven-nights to The Bahamas, Belize, Grand Cayman, Mexico, San Juan, and St. Maarten. Two sailings on March 1 and March 15, 2025, will include stops at private island, Perfect Day at CocoCay.  Laura Hodges Bethge, President of Celebrity Cruises said: "We are thrilled to add Port Canaveral to our list of home ports.” “It is a perfect market to reach a wide mix of both in- and out-of-state travelers." Celebrity Equinox features 13 decks, with a capacity for 2,850 passengers. The Solstice class ship underwent a multi-million-dollar refresh in 2019, introducing an all-new The Retreat experience.  

Celebrity Cruises newest ship will offer hybrid power with three fuel sources, including methanol. The fifth ship in the Edge Series will give unmatched fuel flexibility, it says. "As we innovate our ship design, we're also focused on equally evolving the fuel and technology that powers them," said Jason Liberty, CEO Royal Caribbean Group. "By incorporating tri-fueled engines, our ships will be ready to adapt to a net zero emissions future." To allow for the ship's fuel flexibility, it will have two converted 8-cylinder Wärtsilä 46F engines to allow three fuel sources. It means advancing carbon-free cruising, and lower emissions in the short term. It is part of the next step toward achieving Celebrity Cruises and the group’s Destinations Net Zero mission.

 

Celebrity Eclipse debuts in the South Pacific region, setting sail for world-class beaches, majestic fjords, and enchanting tropical islands

Celebrity Cruises has now got its entire fleet sailing again. It marked a full fleet return with Celebrity Infinity returning to service The ship is also the last one to resume sailing out of Royal Caribbean Group’s entire fleet. Celebrity Infinity is sailing in the Caribbean from Port Everglades, Florida. It had not sailed for nearly 900 days. “This not only caps an incredible journey but sets a course for a whole new world of possibilities for our brand and for cruise travel,” said Lisa Lutoff-Perlo, president and CEO of Celebrity Cruises. Celebrity Infinity will offer seven-night Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries. “Our full return would not be possible without the tireless effort and unwavering commitment of our crew, Lutoff-Perlo added.

Celebrity Cruises unveiled a 2023 -2024 year-round program in the Mediterranean. It is the first winter season in the Mediterranean , which will be operated on Celebrity Infinity. Highlights include the Pyramids of Egypt, Acropolis of Athens, and one of the oldest cities in the world, Jerusalem. Celebrity Infinity will kick off her winter season on nine and 10-night itineraries on the Iberian Peninsula. Rotating between departures from Barcelona, Spain, and Lisbon, Portugal, guests will visit Palma de Mallorca, Seville, and more. From October 2023 to January 2024, Infinity will call Barcelona home sailing 11- and 12-night itineraries and returns to Morocco for the first time since 2008. Capping off the winter season, Infinity will then return to Greece, in February and March 2024 for 10- and 11-night itineraries travelling three continents, including The Great Pyramids, the Acropolis, The Temple of Artemis, and more. “Being able to sail through the Mediterranean all winter will open up infinite possibilities for our guests,” said Lisa Lutoff-Perlo, President and CEO of Celebrity Cruises.

Celebrity Cruises will require children five years and older to be fully vaccinated in order to take a cruise. It updated travel agents, with the policy change that impacts guests between the age of 5 and 12. It takes effect February 1, 2022. Unvaccinated younger children between two and four years old are required to bring a negative Antigen or PCR test taken within 72 hours of boarding. Currently, children up to eleven years old can present  a negative Antigen or PCR test prior to boarding. Celebrity joins Disney Cruise Line in requiring young children to be vaccinated in order to cruise. Sister brand Royal Caribbean International says it is still reviewing its vaccine policy for kids.
