News For Summer And Beyond And Latest Booking Trends – Elegant ResortsWith bookings for Easter 2024 up and summer selling well, Elegant Resorts is looking ...Read moreNews For Summer And Beyond And Latest Booking Trends – Elegant Resorts - News & announcementsWith bookings for Easter 2024 up and summer selling well, Elegant Resorts is looking ahead to a host of inspiring new itineraries, hotels, and destinations. From bucket list holidays in emerging ‘cool’ spots like Finland to a resurgence of old favourites in Asia like Thailand, the luxury travel market is poised for an exciting second half of the year. Key booking trends With the school holidays fast approaching, Spain is Elegant Resorts’ best-selling destination for Easter 2024. Unsurprisingly, after one of the wettest winters on record in the UK, the Canary Islands (with 75% of bookings to Spain) are proving most popular when it comes to the search for sunshine. Easter bookings overall are up 19% on 2023 with Barbados, UAE and the Maldives all retaining their position in the top five and performing well in terms of year-round sales. Nudging out the USA, Thailand – which didn’t make the top ten last year – is the fifth most favoured Easter getaway. Bookings for summer 2024 so far are on a par with last summer, although Greece is capturing even more market share than usual with a 24% increase. Many clients have booked early to avoid disappointment and perennial favourites remain Corfu and Crete, followed by Kos and the Peloponnese. Similar to last year, Italy, Spain and Portugal are all being favoured by families, but the USA has replaced Barbados as the fifth most popular summer destination. Virgin’s new direct flights from Manchester to Las Vegas starting in June come at just the right time, as does EasyJet’s new route from Gatwick to Salerno on the Amalfi coast in July. Although fly and flop beach holidays continue to exert a powerful draw, the lure of bucket list destinations is gaining traction. Finnish Lapland is proving a big hit and French Polynesia and Argentina are also featuring increasingly on people’s must-see lists. Elegant Resorts has identified a growing appetite for transformational travel where guests open themselves up to trying something new or undertaking a “once in a lifetime” journey, to return home enlightened by their discoveries. With an extensive range of tailormade itineraries on offer, Asia is back with a bang, and British Airways returns to Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur in the autumn whilst holidays to central/Latin America and Australasia are also growing in demand. Wellness holidays now account for a 7% share of bookings and are set to increase in popularity as more and more people look to prioritise their health and wellbeing and include these as an essential part of their holidaying habits. Longevity escapes are now a big thing in health and wellbeing. With the medical spa market projected to reach $49 billion by 2030 due to the number of affluent consumers seeking to extend their lives, treatments like oxygen therapy and anti-ageing IV infusions are increasingly in demand. What’s new for summer and beyond? New destinations Folegandros, Greece – close to Santorini but nevertheless off the beaten track, this postcard-perfect island is about to get its moment in the limelight with the opening in May of a new five-star resort. Set high on soaring cliffs overlooking the azure Aegean Sea, Gundari is the epitome of understated luxury, wrapped in 80 hectares of spectacular, raw nature. Kenya – facing Mount Kilimanjaro, Angama Amboseli is a luxury tented lodge located in the country’s first community-owned sanctuary of Kimana. Set within a Fever Tree Forest where some of Africa’s last ‘super tusker’ elephants roam, the intimate 10-suite lodge is just a 45-minute drive from the Amboseli National Park. Japan – discover the essence of this fascinating country on a brand new 14-day tailor-made itinerary, the Golden Route and Okinawa. From the nightlife of Tokyo to the rich marine life of Okinawa, via the temples of Kyoto and mysterious Mount Fuji, the itinerary is a chance to really appreciate authentic Japanese traditions including an exclusive tea ceremony and dinner with a Maiko. New prestige hotels like the Six Senses Kyoto, opposite the famous 16th-century Toyokuni Shrine, and Janu Tokyo in the capital’s dynamic new neighbourhood of Azabudai Hills are just two other reasons to head east this year. Istanbul, Turkey – Elegant Resorts is expanding its programme beyond Bodrum and Dalaman to include the iconic spires and minarets of Istanbul. This fascinating melting pot of cultures and civilisations is one of the world’s greatest 21st century cities that never stops moving. New itineraries Rwanda’s Plains, Rainforests and Primates – search for endangered mountain gorillas and look for chimpanzees in their natural habitat on a thrilling 10-night adventure that takes in three of the country’s top national parks. Accommodation includes a couple of nights at Magashi Camp an eco-camp teeming with wildlife and a stay at Singita Kwitonda, a rainforest retreat with private plunge pool. Luxury Namibian Self-Drive – sleep under the stars, encounter majestic desert elephants and explore ancient rock art on a two-week drive through Namibia. The selection of world-renowned game reserves promises an immersive wilderness experience. Incas and the Andes – from the lively streets of Lima to the serenity of the Sacred Valley, and the mystical ruins of Machu Picchu to the age-old heart of the Inca Empire, Cusco, this nine-day trip captures the very best of Peru’s cultural and historic treasures. A Journey of Romance, Italy – beginning aboard the legendary Venice-Simplon Orient Express, a peerless ten-day itinerary featuring some of Italy’s most enchanting destinations. From the timeless beauty of Venice to captivating Lake Garda and the romance of Verona, the journey oozes class from start to finish. Moroccan Gems – a 14-day journey through thousands of years of history taking in the mythical cities of Marrakesh, Casablanca, Rabat, and Tangier. Vivid contrast is provided by an excursion to the Atlas Mountains, a night under the stars in the Agafay desert and time in the laidback port of Larache with its nearby beach. Luxury Greek Island-Hopping Adventure/ Greek Island Hopping – a refreshed offer to incorporate Folegandros’ brand new five-star boutique resort Gundari, and the Andronis Minois on the island of Paros with its contemporary take on traditional Cycladic architecture. Classic Kerala – 13 days amid lush tea plantations, tranquil waterways, and pristine beaches in the picturesque state of Kerala in southern India. The local culture is put front and centre with a stay on a traditional houseboat, the chance to try centuries old Ayurvedic holistic treatments, and a private cooking demonstration inside a Cochin home. Eastern and Oriental Express, Singapore and Langkawi – a luxurious train trip aboard the legendary Eastern and Oriental Express which weaves its way from Singapore through Kuala Lumpur to Langkawi and Penang. Cross lush tropical jungles and verdant rice paddies before enjoying time by the coast in a heavenly location tucked away in an ancient rainforest on Langkawi’s northwest tip. Hot destination – Sardinia Belmond Hotel Romazzino – reopening in May, the Romazzino resort is an ode to historical glamour and relaxation in the heart of the Costa Smeralda. Giving new meaning to the word villeggiatura, the property offers a deluxe retro-chic getaway on the Emerald Coast. Rocco Forte Costa Smeralda – further up the coast, a new Rocco Forte beachside resort is opening in 2025 in the beautiful town of Porto Cervo. A short stroll from one of the best beaches on the island, with panoramic views over the Tyrrhenian Sea, the resort blends Mediterranean architecture with the natural landscape. Mandarin Oriental, Porto Cervo – perched on a hill overlooking the Gulf of Pevero and surrounded by forest, the sumptuous hotel is set to open in 2026 with 83 rooms and suites, five distinctive restaurants and bars and an exclusive spa and wellness experience. Cheval Blanc Pitrizza – also in 2026, LVMH brand Cheval Blanc is taking over the landmark Hotel Pitrizza near Porto Cervo. There are 49 rooms and suites and 16 villas, most with private pools and great sea views. Africa Morocco Royal Mansour Casablanca – reopening soon after extensive renovations, the five-star Royal Mansour Casablanca is an oasis of calm in Morocco’s fabled and largest city. The hotel prides itself on its elegance, style and warmth of service, combined with luxurious amenities and excellent cuisine. Tanzania Singita Milele – opening in May 2024, this private retreat is in the Grumeti Reserve, a vast and protected piece of pristine savannah. With five expansive guest suites, generous terraces with panoramic views of the plains below, outdoor showers and private jacuzzis, this is comfort at its most superlative. Indian Ocean Maldives Soneva Secret – tucked away in the Maldives’ most remote atoll Haa Dhaalu, this barefoot paradise features just 14 secluded beach and overwater villas, including a floating villa and secret hideaways accessible only by boat. Soneva Secret works with every guest to co-curate personalised wellness experiences. Asia Thailand Aman Nai Lert Bangkok - opening later this year, Thailand's first urban Aman HOtel and Residences are set amid the skyscrapers of central bangkok in the leafy Nai Lert Park. Modern aesthetics meet traditional Thai influences in an upscale design with wraparound views, open air terraces and an innovative central atrium. Caribbean Grenada Six Senses La Sagesse – set between the ocean and a protected cove on the southern part of the island, the brand’s debut in the Caribbean is due to open in April 2024. Influenced by the region’s traditional architecture, the design mimics a Caribbean village. Dining will focus on handpicked organic ingredients and fresh seafood caught by local fishermen. Silversands Beach House – this recently opened intimate, luxury boutique hotel is framed by a dramatic stone bluff and the azure waters of Portici Beach. It comprises just 28 meticulously crafted villas and suites with breathtaking views of lush mountains or unspoiled ocean shores and is a byword for romance. Europe Greece Andronis Minois, Paros – reopening in May, the resort is based on the iconic white, cubist houses that are a tradition in Cycladic architecture. The water’s edge is just 200 metres away making for a truly relaxing Greek retreat. One&Only Kéa Island (and One&Only Aesthesis) – the all-villa resort One&Only Kéa Island, opening in May, is just a one-hour boat trip away from Athens and occupies a 65-hectare beachfront site on the west side of the island. Elegant Resorts Unveils 2024’s travel trendsLeading luxury tour operator Elegant Resorts launches its annual Luxury Travel Trends Report in ...Read moreElegant Resorts Unveils 2024’s travel trends - News & announcementsLeading luxury tour operator Elegant Resorts launches its annual Luxury Travel Trends Report in conjunction with Kerzner International and travel trend forecasting agency Globetrender this week, Luxury Horizons: Unveiling 2024’s Travel Trends, showcasing the 7 key emerging trends to watch out for next year. Discerning Travel is the common denominator when it comes to booking luxury holidays with Elegant Resorts. Whether it is a desire to live a longer and healthier life, create lasting memories with loved ones, experiencing more of the world when going on a cruise, coincide travel plans with special events, satisfy wanderlust influenced by social content, learning something new for personal betterment or simply immerse oneself in the world of fashion, design and luxury, a holiday is not just to fly and flop, it needs to bring that little extra that will turn an ordinary holiday into something extraordinary. Longevity Escapes With the medical spa market projected to reach $49 billion by 2030 due to the ever-increasing number of affluent consumers seeking to extend their lives, wellness resorts and retreats are investing in a wide range of treatments, programmes, and therapies to respond to the demand. IV infusions, cryotherapy, biohacking, are some of those found at some of the best medi-spas and clinics around the world such as RAKxa in Thailand or the expanding Sha Wellness. Meanwhile, the Rose Bar at Six Senses Ibiza is to host a “Young Forever Retreat” in June 2024 and Kerzner’s One&Only Aesthesis in Athens will open Greece’s first Guerlain Spa, renowned for its anti-ageing treatments while new brand SIRO, opening in Dubai next year will encapsulate the future of fitness and recovery. Generational connections Multi-generation holidays have been on the rise for a few years, but the key trend Elegant Resorts is seeing is that the choice of a destination is not about having different activities for each generation but finding destinations and resorts where the whole family can enjoy some unforgettable times together. A varied programme of cultural immersions, creative fun, sports and relaxation are the key to success and special shared memories. Cruise framing The cruise market has been booming for the past few years and a new trend is emerging as clients seek to bring destinations even more to life by organising itineraries pre and post voyage. Cruise lines usually organise excursions and stops along the way however, Elegant Resorts’ clients increasingly use the operator’s expertise to guide and advise on extensions where they can go deeper into some of the destinations visited while on board. Calendar creation While travelling for major sport fixtures such as the Olympics or the football or rugby world cups have always been popular, Elegant Resorts has noticed a growing trend towards organising holidays around key cultural events such as the Paleo di Siena in Italy or major festivals like Coachella in the US or the Carnival in Rio or sports fixtures including F1. Access to VIP experiences such as exclusive backstage access or best seats in the house give perfect bragging rights. Zinfluence Travel With access to information at their fingertips, Gen Z is an influential generation able to share holiday inspiration that they have gathered online with their parents who then foot the bill. TikTok’s travel content is booming with resort videos and destinations receiving millions of views. As a result, Elegant Resorts is receiving more requests for resorts popular on social media channels including OZEN Bolifushi in the Maldives and its famed waterslides, or Dubai, a hotspot for digital content creators. Enrichment Journeys Transformational travel, where clients feel like they return from their trips a different or better person thanks to a variety of authentic and meaningful experiences organised along the way is gaining momentum with affluent travellers. These can be encounters with locals sharing their culture and history, cooking lessons, observing wildlife in their habitat or art classes, they all contribute to enriching the soul whilst creating long lasting memories. Designer collaborations Popping up everywhere around the world, luxury brand partnerships with the travel world provide kudos and appeal with clients and can be a key factor in some clients opting for one resort or hotel for another. Dior, Guerlain, Fendi, Missoni, they all want a slice of the luxury travel market and have already partnered with successful resorts including One&Only Reethi Rah in the Maldives or Hotel Cala di Volpe in Italy. Lisa Fitzell, Managing Director at Elegant Resorts commented: “The luxury traveller is discerning and has a thirst for new adventures. After the last few years, our clients want to make their holidays more meaningful, make the most of their time with their loved ones, look after themselves and be healthy for longer, ensure every trip matters, enriches their souls, create long lasting memories. Travel is not taken for granted and at Elegant Resorts, we have the expertise and know how to create unforgettable and perfectly curated holidays.” Craig Jeffs, Regional Director, Sales and Marketing, United Kingdom, Scandinavia and Netherlands at Kerzner International added: “It has been an absolute pleasure to support and collaborate on the Globetrender Luxury Travel Trends report. It goes without saying that these reports offer a great insight into how the luxury travel sector is growing and allows us to build strategic and meaningful road marks to support and align our offerings.” Jenny Southan, Editor, Founder and CEO of Globetrender, the UK/s leading travel trend forecasting agency and online magazine dedicated to the future of travel said: “When predicting the future of travel, it's essential to look at the luxury travel sector as this is where most of the innovation happens. The signals are then reinterpreted at lower price points for mass market tourists. It's also a hugely significant, growing sector that will almost double in size by 2030, up from US$241 billion in annual revenue in 2022 to US$440 billion at the end of the decade [Coherent Market Insights]. The trends we have identified are connected not with survey data, which has limited use for forecasting, but fundamental societal and cultural shifts such as human longevity, the emergence of Gen Z as the most powerful consumer group on Earth and the under-appreciated power of Gen Alpha children. We also show how the persuasiveness of brand collaboration will be a defining force in luxury travel, how providers are tapping into the deeper human need for personal betterment and why top-end cruise passengers are going to be spreading their wealth on land as well as at sea." -

Elegant Resorts launches the Future of Luxury Travel Trends 2023Leading luxury tour operator Elegant Resorts this week revealed that Clients are more determined ...Read moreElegant Resorts launches the Future of Luxury Travel Trends 2023 - News & announcementsLeading luxury tour operator Elegant Resorts this week revealed that Clients are more determined to travel than ever as part of its annual Luxury Travel Trends Report. The report follows extensive research based on client surveys and current travel booking trends to help determine clients’ feelings towards travel as the cost-of-living crisis continues. A Genuine Desire to Travel The survey has revealed that while the cost-of-living crisis is certainly on people’s minds, Elegant Resorts’ clients are determined to travel in 2023. 55% of those who responded to the survey said that they would not be travelling less but would consider dropping other luxuries if necessary, while 80% are planning to take three trips at least this year and 13% are expecting to take five trips or more. They are also seeing that the average booking value has increased by 48% since before the pandemic, reaching £28.5K. With a strong financial position due to the restrictions of the last couple of years, clients have led a surge in demand with bigger budgets as they are keen to indulge, even when considering the general increase in the overall costs of flights and accommodation. Holidaying Differently During the pandemic the operator saw a surge in bookings for single-centre beach holidays, but now holiday makers are keen to venture further afield and make every break matter. 40% of respondents are planning multi-centre itineraries full of cultural experiences and 73% want to book city breaks for the same reasons. Another key trend is the rise of wellness holidays, with mental wellbeing considered the number one lifestyle priority and 22% of clients planning to book a retreat. These are holidays that matter and enrich their lives. A Shift in Destinations The traditional holiday locations are still firm favourites, but Europe has now taken the top spot from the Caribbean with countries like Italy, Spain and Greece being ahead of the rest. 75% of the survey respondents confirmed that they intend to book a European break in 2023 and 46% are hoping to go to the Caribbean this year. Early 2023 bookings confirm that Dubai is firmly back on the map, with the top 5 destinations being Barbados, Spain, Greece, The Maldives and Dubai. The USA, South Africa and Portugal are proving to be popular emerging destinations while Thailand, Australia and New Zealand are making a slower but steady recovery following the pandemic. Lisa Fitzell, Managing Director of Elegant Resorts commented: “The start of 2023 is very encouraging. We have had some exceptional weeks and I hope that this year will bring our full recovery and see us perform better than previous years. Holidays are very important to our clients, who cherish the long-lasting memories they bring with loved ones. Going away is also key to wellbeing, and as a result of this we launched our Wellness Collection earlier this year allowing clients to book retreats whilst continuing to use the expertise and personalised service we offer.” You can access the full report here -

Tracy Docherty, Agency Sales Director at Elegant Resorts commented: “Over the past 6 months we’ve heavily invested in designing and developing a portal for the sole use of our travel agent partners and homeworkers. It will offer a login, through which agents will have access to a host of useful tools, Feedback from partners indicated that they regularly book a number of core hotels with us, and they wanted relevant offers to target their regular bookers. This is the first phase of our commitment to ensuring our agent partners and homeworkers feel valued and receive a seamless experience with Elegant Resorts. We look forward to receiving their feedback on phase 1, as work on phase 2 is already underway.” -
