Hyatt Hotels Corp has tapped partner China Resources Land to expand its brand presence across China. They have signed a strategic collaboration agreement. The joint venture, Yuen Kai Holdings Limited, will develop and manage hotels including six existing Mumian hotels in Beijing, Shenzhen, Chengdu, Hangzhou, and Rizhao as well as two new Mumian hotels in Shaoxing and Shanghai. These properties are expected to become part of The Unbound Collection by Hyatt and JdV by Hyatt brands. Additionally, Hyatt and CR Land announced a strategic agreement for the development of more Hyatt-branded hotels. They have signed agreements for key projects such as Park Hyatt Xi’an and Andaz Dongguan. Hyatt’s portfolio in the Greater China market spans more than 50 years, with more than 165 open properties across 60 markets as of June 30, 2024. David Udell, group president, Asia Pacific, Hyatt, said, “We are excited about the collaboration between Hyatt and CR Land, as it represents a significant advancement in the Chinese market. Our growth is built on strong alliances with like-minded businesses.” The JV is the latest collaboration between Hyatt and CR Land, who first worked together in 2009 on the opening of Grand Hyatt Shenzhen. CR Land continues to own Hyatt-managed properties across China, including Grand Hyatt Shenzhen, Grand Hyatt Dalian, Grand Hyatt Shenyang, Park Hyatt Hangzhou, Grand Hyatt Hefei, Andaz Xiamen and Andaz Shenzhen Bay. "We are interested in building long-term, fruitful relationships with our owners that showcase a desire to grow together,” said Stephen Ho, president of growth and operations, Asia Pacific, Hyatt.

The much awaited opening of The Standard, Singapore is just days away. The Standard announced the opening of its newest location in November 2024, marking its fifth Asia Pacific hotel. The Singapore hotel is located in Orange Grove Road just steps away from the Botanic Gardens and the Orchard Road shopping district. It houses 143 rooms across eight floors, each with floor-to-ceiling windows offering views of the pool. The property pays homage to the nearby botanical gardens and features works from local artists. The Standard’s culinary concepts include the Kaya Izakaya experience and Café Standard, with an all-day menu in a bistro setting. Hyatt Hotels Corporation has marked the opening of Grand Hyatt Kunming, which represents a debut of the Grand Hyatt brand in the city. Housed in Kunming's Spring City 66 plaza, Grand Hyatt Kunming and Grand Hyatt Residences Kunming are part of an office tower and luxury shopping mall. "This opening is a splendid addition to Hyatt's luxury portfolio," said Stephen Ho, President Greater China and Growth, Asia Pacific at Hyatt Asia Pacific. Known as the ‘Spring City,’ Kunming is noted for culture, food and its scenery of forests and lakes, all easily accessible from the hotel. Neighbouring attractions include Jinma Biji Square and Nanqiang Street, famed for its night market. The Kunming hotel has 331 rooms and suites, five dining and drinking venues, an indoor pool, spa and fitness centre. The Kunming hotel also houses over 20,000 square feet of versatile event space.

Hyatt Hotels Corp and developer Hongkong Land inked an agreement for a new Chengdu hotel under the Hyatt Centric brand. Hyatt Centric East CBD Chengdu is expected to open in 2025. The hotel's opening will mark the entry of the Hyatt Centric lifestyle brand into China's southwest region. The Chengdu hotel will be part of the upscale commercial complex, The Ring, a new mixed-use project. It will contain premium office towers, an upscale shopping mall and the hotel. It occupies a prime spot near Southeast Second Ring Road. "Hyatt is committed to growing its lifestyle portfolio in destinations that matter most to guests,” said Stephen Ho, Asia Pacific president of growth and operations.

  Hyatt   opened Thailand resort Andaz Pattaya Jomtien Beach, marking the brand debut in the country. Nestled on 15 acres, the luxury lifestyle resort offers 204 rooms, suites and villas. Resort facilities include open social spaces, six restaurants and bars and three swimming pools. The Thailand resort houses a spa, kids' club and function space. There is also a 24-hour fitness centre. The resort is located between Jomtien beach and the charming fishing village of Bang Saray.

Hyatt Hotel Corporation announced another hotel acquisition, agreeing to purchase Dream Hotel Group's lifestyle hotel brand and management platform.  It includes Dream Hotels, The Chatwal Hotels and Unscripted Hotels brands across the Americas, Europe and Asia. This asset-light acquisition will include a portfolio of 12 lifestyle hotels, with another 24 management agreements. When completed, the expansion adds 1,700 rooms to Hyatt's lifestyle portfolio. Hyatt pays $125 million, with an additional $175 million over the next six years as new properties open. Properties are located in Nashville, Hollywood, South Beach, Durham, New York City and the Catskills. Signed contracts include Las Vegas, Saint Lucia and Doha. "We look forward to continuing our growth with more than 600 new Hyatt family members," said Mark Hoplamazian, CEO, Hyatt. Dream Hotel Group founder Sant Singh Chatwal will continue as owner of four open and two future hotels. Dream CEO Jay Stein will join Hyatt as Head of Dream Hotels to oversee the integration.
