Housed in Kunming's Spring City 66 plaza, Grand Hyatt Kunming and Grand Hyatt Residences Kunming are part of an office tower and luxury shopping mall. "This opening is a splendid addition to Hyatt's luxury portfolio," said Stephen Ho, President Greater China and Growth, Asia Pacific at Hyatt Asia Pacific. Known as the ‘Spring City,’ Kunming is noted for culture, food and its scenery of forests and lakes, all easily accessible from the hotel. Neighbouring attractions include Jinma Biji Square and Nanqiang Street, famed for its night market. The Kunming hotel has 331 rooms and suites, five dining and drinking venues, an indoor pool, spa and fitness centre. Hyatt Centric East CBD Chengdu is expected to open in 2025. The hotel's opening will mark the entry of the Hyatt Centric lifestyle brand into China's southwest region. The Chengdu hotel will be part of the upscale commercial complex, The Ring, a new mixed-use project. It will contain premium office towers, an upscale shopping mall and the hotel. It occupies a prime spot near Southeast Second Ring Road. "Hyatt is committed to growing its lifestyle portfolio in destinations that matter most to guests,” said Stephen Ho, Asia Pacific president of growth and operations. -

It includes Dream Hotels, The Chatwal Hotels and Unscripted Hotels brands across the Americas, Europe and Asia. This asset-light acquisition will include a portfolio of 12 lifestyle hotels, with another 24 management agreements. When completed, the expansion adds 1,700 rooms to Hyatt's lifestyle portfolio. Hyatt pays $125 million, with an additional $175 million over the next six years as new properties open. Properties are located in Nashville, Hollywood, South Beach, Durham, New York City and the Catskills. Signed contracts include Las Vegas, Saint Lucia and Doha. "We look forward to continuing our growth with more than 600 new Hyatt family members," said Mark Hoplamazian, CEO, Hyatt. Dream Hotel Group founder Sant Singh Chatwal will continue as owner of four open and two future hotels. Dream CEO Jay Stein will join Hyatt as Head of Dream Hotels to oversee the integration.
