  NH Collection Hotel to debut on Al Marjan Island, Ras Al Khaimah - News & announcements

  Minor Hotels is bringing the NH Collection brand to Al Marjan Island in Ras Al Khaimah. Slated to launch in early 2028, the 156-key NH Collection Ras Al Khaimah Al Marjan Island Hotel & Apartments was unveiled during a ceremony at THINC Middle East. The new hotel will be located on Al Marjan Island in the UAE, just one hour from Dubai International Airport and a 30-minute drive from Ras Al Khaimah International Airport. It will feature 120 beach-facing guest rooms and suites, as well as 36 branded serviced apartments. Amenities will include four restaurants and bars, a gym and an outdoor swimming pool. Additionally, there will be a kids club and games room, a retail shop and a co-working space. The property is owned by real estate developer RRS International Development FZ-LLC. Minor already operates the Anantara in Mina Al Arab and is opening the Anantara Residences. Minor Hotels currently operates 17 properties in the UAE across four brands, including Anantara Mina Al Arab Ras Al Khaimah Resort which launched at the start of 2024. The NH Collection brand made its debut in the country with the opening of NH Collection Dubai The Palm in February 2023, which also represented the brand’s first property outside of Europe and the Americas. NH Collection has since launched in Asia and the Indian Ocean, with further properties under development including in Africa.

  Minor enters Japan luxury market segment - News & announcements

  Minor International is set to enter Japan’s luxury and lifestyle hotel market. It has teamed up with hotel operator Royal Holdings Co in a strategic partnership. The joint venture will be called Royal Minor Hotels Co., Ltd and will expand Minor Hotels’ presence in the Japanese market. The JV will introduce three Minor Hotels brands: Anantara, Avani, and Tivoli. The hotels will be developed through both management agreements and lease arrangements, with a target set of 21 hotels by 2035. MINT and Royal have previously worked together to introduce the Sizzler brand in Japan. Royal operates 43 Richmond Hotels across Japan through its subsidiary, RNT HOTELS CO. The new business will focus on key business and leisure destinations. “We are thrilled to expand our presence in the Japanese market, a key growth area for our company,” said Dillip Rajakarier, Group CEO of Minor International.

  Minor Hotels on track for 850 properties by 2027 - News & announcements

  Minor Hotels has a strong development pipeline of almost 300 new hotels slated to open over the next three years. This expansion puts the international hotel owner and operator on track to pass 850 properties by the end of 2027, it says. With more than 560 properties and 81,000 keys already in operation, Minor’s three-year pipeline comprises over 285 new hotels and almost 47,000 keys. While more than 50% of Minor’s existing portfolio is currently concentrated in Europe, the addition of more than 100 properties in Asia, more than 60 in the Middle East & Africa, and 40 in Australia and New Zealand will lead to a more balanced global portfolio distribution. Minor Hotels is also looking to expand its presence in several key markets, especially in North America and North Asia. Markets such as Morocco, Egypt, and Turkey have also been identified as priority destinations for entry. The company says luxury and upscale remains a driving force in Minor Hotels’ expansion, with one-third of the three-year pipeline categorised in the Luxury segment. This encompasses the Anantara, Tivoli, and Elewana Collection brands, and a further third in the Premium segment across NH Collection, Avani and nhow. The group is also investing heavily in upgrading many of its luxury properties. Minor Hotels’ new-look masterbrand strategy will see the launch of two new hotel brands. More than one third of the pipeline consists of conversions and brownfield developments, with the remainder consisting of greenfield projects. Minor is also focusing on wellbeing as a cross-brand strategic priority, highlighted by the recent opening of destinations such as Layan Life by Anantara in Phuket. “We remain committed to strategic growth across a diverse range of regions,” said Dillip Rajakarier, CEO of Minor Hotels and Group CEO of parent company Minor International.

  Anantara to debut first Zimbabwe hotel - News & announcements

  Thailand based Minor Hotels is introducing its first Zimbabwe hotel. Anantara Stanley & Livingstone Victoria Falls Hotel marks a debut for a Minor Hotels brand in the country. The company has more than 550 hotels in 56 countries across Asia Pacific, the Middle East, Africa, the Indian Ocean, Europe and the Americas. The property complements The Royal Livingstone Victoria Falls Zambia Hotel by Anantara, offering properties on both sides of the Zambezi River. Anantara Stanley & Livingstone Victoria Falls Hotel becomes the seventh Anantara property in Africa and the Indian Ocean when it joins the portfolio on 1 December. This will be closely followed by Anantara Kafue River Tented Camp in Zambia, scheduled to open in mid-2025. Just a 15-minute drive from Victoria Falls, the Zimbabwe hotel has 16 suites. Amenities include a restaurant, a lounge and bar and a swimming pool. The hotel is family friendly and offers guests a range of activities for all ages, both at the hotel and around Victoria Falls. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the falls offers a range of sightseeing and adventure including boat trips, zip-lining across Batoka Gorge, helicopter flights over the falls and wildlife-spotting sunset cruises on the Zambezi. Guests can also enjoy game drives and a black rhino conservation experience at the nearby Victoria Falls Private Game Reserve. Activities can be organised through the hotel’s concierge desk. “We are excited to announce a second Anantara property at Victoria Falls, showcasing our dedication to growing our luxury Anantara brand in Africa,” said Dillip Rajakarier, CEO of Minor Hotels. Anantara Hotels & Resorts has an existing portfolio of over 50 properties across Asia, Europe, the Middle East, the Indian Ocean and Africa, with a strong pipeline of further hotels and resorts under development.   Minor Hotels debuts NH hotel brands in Sri Lanka - News & announcements

  Global hotel operator Minor Hotels has added two properties in Sri Lanka, marking the country debut for the NH Collection Hotels & Resorts and NH Hotels & Resorts brands. Partnering with hotel owner Softlogic Holdings, Minor Hotels will manage the two properties, one in the Sri Lankan capital of Colombo and one in the beach town of Bentota. NH Collection Colombo Hotel opened its doors on June 1 in the capital city, steps away from Liberty Arcade and the seafront. It is situated a short drive from the National Museum, Independence Square and Pettah Market. Bandaranaike International Airport is a 45-minute drive away. The five-star hotel features 219 rooms and suites, including includes the city’s largest Presidential Suite. NH Collection Colombo houses six food and beverage, meeting and event spaces, a gym, rooftop infinity pool and spa. Ninety minutes south of Colombo along the west coast is NH Bentota Ceysands Resort. The 166-key property, scheduled to open July 1 and will feature an expansive swimming pool with ocean views, a water sports centre, a spa and a kid’s club. The resort features five restaurants and bars, including an international all-day dining restaurant and a pool bar. “We are excited to be a part of NH Collection and NH’s debut in Sri Lanka and look forward to an outstanding partnership,” said Ashok Pathirage, Chairman of Softlogic Holdings. The Sri Lanka hotels join Minor Hotels’ three properties in Sri Lanka – Anantara Kalutara Resort, Anantara Peace Haven Tangalle Resort and Avani Kalutara Resort and over 90 NH Collection and 230 NH hotels and resorts worldwide.   Avani Hotels to debut in China - News & announcements

  Minor Hotels is set to debut its Avani Hotels & Resorts brand in China this year. In association with joint venture partner Funyard Minor JV Co., Avani Huajian Xinyi Guangdong Resort and Avani+ Xinyi Guangdong Resort will be among the first international upscale hotels in Xinyi when they open in the first half of this year. Located beside the River Huanghua, Avani Huajian Xinyi Guangdong Resort will have 86 rooms and suites, an all-day dining restaurant, an AvaniFit gym and Xinyi’s first infinity sky pool. Designed for families, Avani Huajian Xinyi will offer themed kids rooms. Surrounded by a bamboo forest, Avani+ Xinyi Guangdong Resort is situated in the mountains above Ma’an Village. In addition to 96 modern rooms and suites, the China resort will have all-day dining, a bar, an infinity pool, an AvaniFit gym and an AvaniKids club.   Minor Highest-Ranked Hotel Operator in S&P Global’s Sustainability Yearbook 2024 - News & announcements

    Minor International, the parent company of Minor Hotels, has been recognised by S&P Global as the top-performing hotel operator, and second-best overall hotel company, in its Sustainability Yearbook 2024.  

  Minor is the only hotel operator to achieve a Top 10% score in the Hotels, Resorts and Cruise Lines industry, in which 61 companies were assessed globally, demonstrating the group's long-term commitment to making travel more environmentally and socially responsible. Only one other company – a hospitality asset owner and developer – scoring higher in the global industry rankings.  

  The Sustainability Yearbook 2024 honours 759 top-scoring companies selected from over 9,400 considered based on their S&P Global 2023 Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA) Score, an evaluation of an organisation’s performance and measurement of material ESG risks, opportunities and impacts.  

  In a breakdown of its CSA Score, Minor achieved industry-best results for Business Ethics and Human Capital Development categories, and also performed strongly on Climate Strategy as well as Talent Attraction and Retention.  

  It marks the fourth consecutive year that Minor has been included in the Yearbook, and the second year in a row that it has been ranked as a Top 10% company.

  Record revenue sees Minor Hotels’ profit surge 450% - News & announcements

  Thailand based Minor Hotels posted record full-year core revenue of THB 121.4 billion (approx. USD 3.4 billion) in 2023, and a surge in profit. Core net profit rose 450% compared to the previous year. Revenue was up by a quarter versus 2022, with topline total system sales reaching THB 157 billion (approx. USD 4.4 billion). Most key markets performed well for the group, especially hotel operations in Europe and Thailand where revenue grew 25% and 65% respectively. The consolidated core profit of THB 4.95 billion was on par with pre-Covid levels, achieving 96% of the 2019 full-year figure. Resurgent demand for leisure and business travel across most key markets drove the growth with group-wide average daily rate (ADR) increasing by 10% compared with last year. Much of this was driven by hotels in Europe and the Americas, where ADR was up 14%. Group-wide occupancy was reported at 66% for the year, an increase of 6% on 2022. Overall RevPAR rose 22% versus 2022, with Thailand reporting 73% growth and Europe & Americas with 26% increase. In fourth quarter, Minor Hotels reported core net profit of THB 1.89 billion, slightly below Q422 profit in real terms but an increase of 95% when adjusted like-for-like. The company expects the strong growth trend to carry through 2024. Dillip Rajakarier, CEO of Minor Hotels said: "We are pleased with our outstanding performance in 2023. As we move forward, our focus remains on expanding our footprint and driving sustainable growth." Minor Hotels added a total of 1,257 rooms to its inventory in 2023, and has announced plans for aggressive expansion of its hotel portfolio over the next three years. It aims to add 200-250 new hotels to its existing portfolio of 540 properties globally. Minor Hotels has already added three new managed hotels in Paris in 2024 under the NH Hotels brand, as well as a new Anantara property in Ras Al Khaimah. The hotel pipeline includes the entry of Anantara into Vienna, and both Anantara and Avani into Saudi Arabia, alongside multiple new openings in the Middle East and Asia Pacific.

  Minor Hotels Targets 200+ New Openings as it Unveils New Details of Growth Strategy - News & announcements

    Minor Hotels is targeting more than 200 new openings globally within three years, as the Bangkok-based hotel owner and operator unveils new details of its dynamic commercial strategy for 2024 and beyond.  

  The target for new hotels would increase the group's global portfolio by almost 40% from its current count of 540 properties, as well as adding more than 30,000 rooms to its present inventory of almost 80,000.  

  The rapid acceleration of Minor's global growth ambition builds on record financial performance in 2023 and will be driven by a multi-pronged commercial strategy that will see the company enhance its portfolio of brands and overhaul its digital strategy, while pursuing a more balanced mix of management and franchise operating models.  

  Under its long-standing ‘asset right’ strategy, Minor Hotels owns or leases almost 70% of its global portfolio of 540 hotels. That percentage is expected to decrease to approximately 50% as the group pursues a more aggressive mix of management and franchise agreement options. Notably, Minor is targeting more than 150 new management agreements over the next three years, which would grow its share of the overall operating model mix from 19% in 2023 to 38% by 2026. New franchise agreements are also being targeted, while Minor will continue to grow its hotel investment portfolio.  

  Dillip Rajakarier, Group CEO of Minor International and CEO of Minor Hotels, commented: “2023 has been a record year and the figures, both financial and regarding the group’s expansion, confirm this. Looking ahead, we intend to increase this pace of openings, expanding our brands within our existing areas of operation and growing our global footprint into new regions in which we are not yet present.”  

  Minor Hotels is also looking to shift its geographic mix, targeting a more balanced global distribution of hotels and resorts. Of the more than 200 openings targeted by the end of 2026, approximately half will be in the Asia region, while Europe and the Middle East are expected to add more than 50 properties each. Other regions, such as Australia & New Zealand, the Americas and Africa, will also see new openings across the Minor Hotels brand portfolio. The strategy will see greater balance globally, with Asia expected to grow from 12% to 23% of global room inventory, and Middle East & Africa from 9% to 16%, by 2026. Europe meanwhile is expected to comprise 45% of room inventory, down from the current 60%, due to outsized growth in other regions.  

  The Anantara, Avani, Oaks, Tivoli and NH Hotels brands are expected to be the key drivers of portfolio growth over the next three years, with Avani alone expected to more than double its property count to almost 100. As part of a major review and optimisation of its global brand portfolio, Minor Hotels also expects to unveil multiple new brands in 2024 and 2025 to fill unmet consumer demand and provide more tailored options to hotel owners, further enhancing its competitive positioning.  

  Ian Di Tullio, Chief Commercial Officer of Minor Hotels, said: “We’re focused on cross-developing our brands to create a harmonious blend of luxury and accessibility in diverse locations. We’re also moving towards a lighter 'asset-right' model. While we will always retain direct ownership of key flagship assets, embracing modern trends we’re shifting towards an increased focus on management and also franchised contracts. This strategic move is set to organically expand our global footprint while retaining our strict owner-driven mindset across all management categories.”  

  Having already launched Anantara Mina Al Arab Ras Al Khaimah Resort in the UAE earlier this month, the luxury brand Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas will continue its strategic growth during 2024 with key openings including Anantara Palais Hansen Vienna Hotel, further strengthening the brand’s European portfolio, Anantara Santorini Abu Dhabi Retreat in the UAE, Anantara Ubud Bali Resort in Indonesia, and Anantara Jaipur Resort, which will represent Anantara’s debut in India.  

  Additions to Avani Hotels & Resorts in 2024 will include properties in Frankfurt, Amsterdam and the Seychelles, in addition to the upper upscale brand’s first hotel in China.

  Elewana Collection, a collection of boutique lodges, camps and hotels in iconic locations across Kenya and Tanzania, recently announced the new Explorer by Elewana collection of upscale safari lodges. The first lodge, Serengeti Explorer, is scheduled to open in March.

  Avani Hotels & Resorts Debuts in Germany with the Launch of Avani Frankfurt City Hotel - News & announcements

    Avani Hotels & Resorts, the upscale lifestyle brand of Minor Hotels, expands further in Europe with the opening of Avani Frankfurt City Hotel, marking the brand's debut in Germany. Located in Frankfurt’s central business district, the rebranded hotel offers a balance between design and function, creating a vibrant atmosphere that reflects the city’s renowned electronic music scene.  

  Avani Frankfurt City Hotel celebrates the city’s role as a pioneer of techno music in the 1980s when Frankfurt became a hub for influential night clubs, record stores, musicians and labels. The lobby displays album covers and framed vinyl discs from the era, while a faux fireplace, complete with vintage record player, creates a nostalgic atmosphere. The shared space is elevated by floor-to-ceiling LED screens displaying dynamic techno animations. To continue the theme, there are five aptly named meeting rooms with a shared breakout area. The flexible space can accommodate up to 140 delegates for workshops, training sessions, themed dinners and team building activities.

       

  Spread over seven floors, Avani Frankfurt’s 256 guest rooms and suites come equipped with the latest amenities, including a power shower, a coffee machine and a garment steamer to keep clothes wrinkle-free. High-tech gadgets such as Google’s streaming media adapter Chromecast TV and high-quality Bluetooth speakers make it easy to relax with favourite shows and music.  

  The hotel’s spacious dining venues cater to guests’ needs for simplicity and quality. There is a buffet-style restaurant for leisurely breakfasts, as well as The Pantry, Avani's signature grab-and-go concept with fresh snacks, including wraps, vegan bites, smoothies, Buddha bowls and matcha tea. At night, The Pantry becomes a lively spot to socialise and sip smart cocktails from the bar, complimented by 24/7 in-room dining.

    Second luxury carriage set to run daily return journey between Quy Nhon and Nha Trang from May 2024  

  The Vietage by Anantara today announces the introduction of a second railway carriage, which will operate a daily return journey between Nha Trang and Quy Nhon commencing its first journey on 15^th May 2024.   Building on the resounding success of the existing carriage running daily between Da Nang and Quy Nhon, the second carriage aims to capture the international hub of Nha Trang served by Cam Ranh International Airport and connect the central coast of Vietnam offering opportunities for visitors to explore more of the stunning country in luxury.   At a signing ceremony this morning at the Saigon Railway Transport JSC (SRT) Head Office in Ho Chi Minh City, The Vietage by Anantara’s General Manager, Erik Billgren, thanked the Vietnam Railways Corporation (VNR) and the SRT for their commitment and support over the last three years since the launch of the initial carriage and looks forward to the ongoing partnership in bringing luxury railway journeys to Vietnam.   Reservations for the new route between Nha Trang and Quy Nhon will open on 1st February 2024.   The Vietage by Anantara will reveal more details soon on its exciting new route.
