Playa Hotels & Resorts officially welcomes two brand-new properties to its Dominican Republic portfolio with the opening of the Wyndham Alltra Samana and the soon to open (November 2024) Wyndham Alltra Punta Cana. VIP partners from across Europe joined the Playa Hotels & Resorts team in Palma to celebrate this expansion and learn more about the two new openings on a luxurious private yacht sailing across the bay of Palma. Now open, the 4* Wyndham Alltra Samana resort joins Playa’s all-inclusive collection, offering guests the opportunity to explore the stunning area of Samana, a hidden gem in the Dominican Republic. Catering perfectly to couples, families and friends holidaying together, activities such as horseback riding, sunbathing, and swimming mix with live entertainment, gourmet a la carte dining, and Camp Alltra for younger guests, to provide a truly personalised holiday experience. Promising to be the Ultimate All-Inclusive Resort in Punta Cana, the Wyndham Alltra Punta Cana is tucked away on the palm-studded Uvero Alto Beach. Formerly a Jewel and Dreams property, the refurbishments on resort stay true to its heritage, delivering the elegance of colonial charm but with the vibrant energy guests have come to expect from the Wyndham brand. From relaxing in the free-form pool, one of the largest in the Dominican Republic, to enjoying charming entertainment that blends traditional Dominican dance with contemporary flair, and taste testing the culinary delights at the resort’s eight restaurants, there is something for everyone. Playa’s VIP event heralded a chance for the team to express their appreciation for the continued support of their partners and give thanks for the record business seen across the portfolio in 2024. Held across six days and entertaining over 40 guests, Playa hosted successful strategic meetings with TUI, Hotelbeds and Altura Beds for the UK and Irish markets, working to set commercial agreements for the coming year that will see more of the Playa Hotels & Resorts portfolio feature in their product programmes. Following its recent announcement of successful growth in the luxury segment across the United States through conversions, Marriott International Inc. announced that it will work with the hotel operator Playa Hotels & Resorts to expand The Luxury Collection brand in the Mexican Caribbean, with Paraiso de la Bonita, a Luxury Collection Adult All-Inclusive Resort, Riviera Maya. Set to open in late 2024, the resort will be situated on 14 acres of lush natural landscape, nestled between a mangrove reserve and the pristine waters of the Mexican Caribbean. “We are delighted to expand the footprint of The Luxury Collection in Mexico and can’t think of a better company to do so than Playa Hotels & Resorts,” said Laurent de Kousemaeker, Chief Development Officer for Marriott International in the Caribbean and Latin America. “Paraiso de la Bonita will continue to deliver on The Luxury Collection promise of providing access to the most fascinating and sought-after locations on earth, while offering unparalleled amenities and service that discerning global explorers have come to expect from the brand.” The property is located in Puerto Morelos, a picturesque fishermen village, which is just 20 minutes away from Cancun International Airport, yet a world apart from the popular and bustling tourist spots nearby. The resort is anticipated to feature 100 oversized, stylish oceanfront suites, as well as an array of amenities, including an expansive 22,000 sq. foot spa. In line with the brand’s commitment to showcase local gastronomy and provide unique, locally inspired dining experiences, the resort is anticipated to have three restaurants, including one with a 5,000-bottle cellar, as well as a sushi and ceviche bar. To provide an even more exclusive experience, there will be a separate building within the property that will act as a “resort within the resort” with 10 suites with private plunge pools and beach access, an intimate exclusive pool, and two dedicated restaurants with a private chef. “Paraiso de la Bonita, a Luxury Collection Adult All-Inclusive Resort, Riviera Maya is the result of Playa’s strategic initiative to offer our customers differentiated concepts in the all-inclusive segment. We are excited to continue expanding our managed portfolio alongside Marriott International. The demand for luxury all-inclusive products has been growing significantly, and we are proud to lead this transformation,” commented Fernando Mulet, Executive Vice President and Chief Investment Officer for Playa Hotels & Resorts. This signing reinforces Marriott’s strength in conversion-friendly brand offerings, a model that provides owners and franchisees greater flexibility and cost-savings, while leveraging the power of Marriott’s global hospitality platform. The company anticipates substantial conversion opportunities within the luxury segment for The Luxury Collection brand, adding to its diverse portfolio of conversion-friendly brands spanning various brand segments, including Autograph Collection Hotels, Tribute Portfolio, Delta Hotels, and Four Points by Sheraton. The upcoming addition of Paraiso de la Bonita, a Luxury Collection Adult All-Inclusive Resort, Riviera Maya further strengthens Marriott International’s portfolio of luxury and adults-only all-inclusive resorts, including Sanctuary Cap Cana, a Luxury Collection Adult All-Inclusive Resort, Punta Cana and Almare, a Luxury Collection Adult All-Inclusive Resort, Isla Mujeres. With this signing, Marriott International continues its expansion path in the Caribbean and Latin America and solidifies its position as a key player in the hospitality industry by redefining the all-inclusive luxury segment. -

Playa Hotels & Resorts (NASDAQ: PLYA, Playa), a leading owner and operator of all-inclusive resorts in Mexico and the Caribbean, and Marriott International, Inc. today announced an agreement between Francisco Martínez, the owner of Sanctuary Cap Cana, and Marriott International to debut Marriott’s first all-inclusive extension of The Luxury Collection brand in the Dominican Republic with Sanctuary Cap Cana, a Luxury Collection Adult All-Inclusive Resort. The new resort is expected to open in summer 2022 under The Luxury Collection brand. Nestled in the heart of the Dominican Republic, the resort is located in Cap Cana, a private enclave in Punta Cana comprised of 30,000 acres of flawless beaches. Visitors will experience a wide variety of attractions, including the “Punta Espada” golf course designed by Jack Nicklaus, a state-of-the-art marina with more than 150 slips accommodating yachts up to 150-feet, as well as an equestrian center featuring two world-class polo fields designed by Alejandro Batros. The adults-only 325-room resort underwent a renovation in 2019 and includes five a la carte restaurants, six bars, five pools, and Sanctuary Town, the resort’s own nightlife destination. Owned by Francisco Martínez, Sanctuary Cap Cana is expected to become the first Playa managed resort under a Marriott International brand. “We are thrilled to bring our first The Luxury Collection all-inclusive brand extension to the Dominican Republic and we are grateful to the Martínez family for developing such a unique resort,” said Laurent de Kousemaeker, Chief Development Officer, Caribbean and Latin America, Marriott International. “We are also excited for the opportunity to work with Playa Hotels & Resorts, a very reputable all-inclusive operator.” “In our first joint venture with Marriott International, Sanctuary Cap Cana is the perfect choice for the level of style and sophistication that has made Marriott’s The Luxury Collection resorts the standard-bearer for unique, one-of-a-kind vacations," said Fernando Mulet, Executive Vice President and Chief Investment Officer, Playa Hotels & Resorts. “I would like to personally thank Mr. Martinez for his continuous trust in Playa and commitment to the success of this magnificent property.” Marriott International entered the segment in 2019, leveraging seven of its world-renowned brands, and currently offers a portfolio of 28 all-inclusive properties. The Luxury Collection Hotels & Resorts brand features 123 hotels globally in 41 countries and territories.
