Responsible Tourism Awards on the hunt for global changemakersA worldwide search is on to find changemakers who are taking action to curb the ...Read moreResponsible Tourism Awards on the hunt for global changemakers - News & announcementsA worldwide search is on to find changemakers who are taking action to curb the negative impacts of tourism while creating positive impacts. The Responsible Tourism Awards are held in Africa, Latin America, India, South East Asia as well as a ‘rest of the world’ category. Judges are looking for winners in six areas; making travel inclusive, championing cultural diversity, nature positive, climate change, creating shared value and increasing local sourcing and upskilling local communities. Gold winners in all categories in the regional Responsible Tourism Awards then go on to be considered for a Global Responsible Tourism Award, sponsored by Sabre. This will be announced in London in November 2024. Harold Goodwin, founder of the Responsible Tourism Partnership which has run the awards since 2004 said: “We are looking for initiatives which can provide inspiration for other destinations and organisations to learn from; looking for places and people who are developing solutions.” Tess Longfield, head of sustainability communications, Sabre, who is a Global Responsible Tourism Awards judge said: “The Responsible Tourism Awards shine a light on best practice from around the world.” “The most exciting ideas can come from anywhere; the smallest tourism business, through to the largest corporation.” Entry to three regional awards is free and still open. The International Centre for Responsible Tourism India, Foundation Awards are open until 30 June enter The International Centre for Responsible Tourism South East Asia Awards are open until 30 June enter The Rest of the World Awards are open for projects worldwide and can be submitted by 31 August enter Two regional awards have been closed and gold winners from WTM Africa and the Latin America LATA Awards will qualify to be considered for the Global Responsible Tourism Awards, sponsored by Sabre.
