It adds The Standard and Bunkhouse Hotels brands to the Hyatt brand portfolio. This acquisition enhances Hyatt's l position in the industry's premier lifestyle, the company says. The 100% asset-light portfolio includes management, franchise and license contracts for 22 open hotels with approximately 2,000 rooms, including The Standard, London. New properties slated to open later this year include The Standard, Singapore, Bunkhouse's Hotel Saint Augustine in Houston, and The StandardX, Bangkok Phra Arthit. The acquisition includes a residential segment business with Standard Residences under development in Miami, Lisbon, Phuket, Hua Hin, Mexico City and Tulum as well as completed Bunkhouse Residences at Hotel Saint Cecilia in Austin, TX. The acquisition includes more than 30 future projects with a signed agreement or letter of intent. "The enthusiasm for bringing together the ethos of The Standard and Bunkhouse brands and the power of Hyatt's network and distribution system is palpable," said Mark Hoplamazian, CEO, Hyatt. In the coming months, Hyatt will debut its new dedicated Lifestyle group that will be headquartered in New York City with additional offices in Austin and Bangkok. It has entered into agreements with Destination Gold Coast Consortium for an Andaz resort in the Gold Coast, Australia. Destination Gold Coast Consortium is a joint venture between parent company, The Star Entertainment Group, and its two partners, Far East Consortium and Chow Tai Fook Enterprises. Andaz Gold Coast will be part of an integrated resort masterplan, The Star Gold Coast. Slated to open in mid-2025, the hotel will mark the debut of the Andaz brand in Australia and the Pacific region. “We are thrilled to announce plans to bring the Andaz brand to Australia’s premier resort destination,” said David Udell, group president, Asia Pacific, Hyatt. “Hyatt has had a brand presence in Australia for over 40 years, and we are excited to expand our luxury, lifestyle and leisure offerings.” Occupying floors six to 21 of the 65-story second tower, the hotel will have 202 guest rooms and suites, a fitness centre and three food and beverage outlets. There will be an expansive outdoor pool deck on level six with a cocktail bar, a beach club with private cabanas and al fresco dining. Hyatt Regency Samarafushi Maldives will mark Hyatt Regency’s brand entry into the Maldives. Located in the North Male Atoll, the new all-villa resort is slated to open in late 2027. It will join Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa and Alila Kothaifaru Maldives as the third Hyatt Maldives resort. The management agreement was signed with SingHaiyi. “We’re thrilled to collaborate with SingHaiyi to invite travellers to one of world’s most desirable resort destinations,” said David Udell, group president, Asia Pacific, Hyatt. It is located only 25 minutes away from Valena International Airport in Malé by speedboat. North Male Atoll is close to the capital and known for its proximity to popular diving and snorkeling sites. The Maldives resort spans 10 hectares and will feature 130 beachfront, treetop, and overwater villas, all with a private pool. There will be a variety of culinary experiences at a sunset bar, a beach club, a Japanese specialty restaurant, and an all-day-dining concept. The transaction is set to close later this year. Following the transaction, Hyatt will establish a new dedicated lifestyle group that will be headquartered in New York City. It will be helmed by Standard International's Executive Chairman Amar Lalvani. The lifestyle group will manage all key functions like design, marketing, PR, restaurants, nightlife and entertainment while leveraging Hyatt’s operational and loyalty infrastructure. The new lifestyle group will include the Standard International team as well as Hyatt colleagues. The acquired portfolio will be 100 percent asset-light and includes management, franchise and license contracts for 21 open hotels. It comprises 2,000 rooms, including The Standard, London, The Standard, High Line in NYC, and The Standard, Bangkok Mahanakhon. It also includes boutique properties like Hotel Saint Cecilia in Austin, and Hotel San Cristóbal in Baja California, Mexico. Hyatt plans to integrate these hotels into World of Hyatt. "The team behind Standard International has created a unique portfolio with a loyal following among the most discerning lifestyle guests," said Mark Hoplamazian, President and Chief Executive Officer, Hyatt. "We are thrilled to welcome Standard International's properties and team to the Hyatt family." Its current pipeline stands at approximately 130,000 rooms. CEO Mark S. Hoplamazian said: "We posted solid second quarter results demonstrating our differentiated positioning and continued momentum.” “Our pipeline reached a new record, up 9% year-over-year, reflecting strong developer interest in our brands.” The World of Hyatt loyalty program saw membership swell by 21% year-over-year and now stands at a record 48 million members. In the second quarter, 18 new hotels (3,251 rooms) joined Hyatt's portfolio. Maison Métier (formerly Maison de la Luz) and The Barnett (formerly Ace Hotel New Orleans) have joined the Hyatt portfolio as affiliated hotels. The hotels are expected to join Hyatt's Independent Collection of brands and the World of Hyatt loyalty program this year. Both properties are owned by The Domain Companies and managed by HRI Hospitality. "This brand expansion in New Orleans market underscores Hyatt's aim to grow in destinations that matter most to Hyatt guests," said Mike Waddell, SVP, global franchise operations. "Maison Métier and The Barnett highlight New Orleans' vibrant culture." The two New Orleans hotels are located just one block from Lafayette Square. Maison Métier will join The Unbound Collection by Hyatt brand this year. It is housed in a 1908 building, and is a Parisian style luxury guesthouse with thoughtfully preserved architecture. It offers 67 guestrooms and suites and a salon-style bar. The Barnett will join JdV by Hyatt brand in 2024. This New Orleans hotel features Art Deco and French Modernism influences and features a live music venue. It houses restaurants, a rooftop and pool bar. Hyatt Hotels Corporation announced that World of Hyatt members can now earn and redeem points for qualifying stays at the Hyatt-affiliated hotel. Phase one of the Las Vegas hotel's two-phase renovation is expected to be completed this fall. At that time, the reimagined all-suite hotel will move into Hyatt's Independent Collection under the Destination by Hyatt brand. "We're proud to collaborate with Rio Hotel & Casino on this transformational project to revitalize the iconic hotel," said David Tarr, SVP of development, Americas, Hyatt. "Destination by Hyatt hotels are individual at heart and Rio Hotel & Casino will be no exception.” Rio Hotel & Casino, owned and operated by Dreamscape, will mark the first Destination by Hyatt hotel in Nevada and the third Hyatt hotel in the Las Vegas area. Phase one renovations began in 2023 and are near completion with extensive upgrades to the 1,501-room Ipanema tower, arrival area, exterior, lobby, and gaming floor. The Las Vegas hotel’s food and beverage outlets, meeting spaces, and outdoor pool area will also be enhanced. Phase two will include a full renovation and redesign of the hotel's 1,012 Masquerade Tower guestrooms and associated public areas. "We are thrilled to welcome World of Hyatt members to the Rio Hotel & Casino as we embark on revitalizing this iconic Las Vegas landmark," said Eric Birmbaum founder of Dreamscape. Rio Hotel & Casino is fully participating in the World of Hyatt program allowing members to earn and redeem points for eligible stays.
