With registrations for the 2021/22 British Travel Awards (BTAs) coming in thick and fast, some award categories, which were dropped this year have been re-instated.
BTA director of events and partnerships Lorraine Barnes Burton said: “Registration for the Awards opened in December with a slightly scaled down list of Award categories. Some awards were amalgamated into wider categories until we could determine if there was enough appetite to expand into more specific destinations. The Greece / Hellenic Europe Award was, for example, amalgamated into the Southern Europe / Mediterranean Award. I am really pleased that enough companies are now confident with their forward bookings for us to reinstate the previous categories.”
The reinstated categories are:-
- Best Hellenic Europe Holidays Travel Company
e.g. Corfu, Crete, Cyprus, Greece, Greek Islands
- Best Indian Ocean Holidays Travel Company
e.g. Comoros, Madagascar, Maldives, Mauritius, Seychelles, Ski Lanka, Zanzibar
- Best Online Travel Retailer
Online travel retailers offering holiday and travel products from various suppliers
This year registrations will be open for an extended period until 22 May, to allow as many travel companies as possible to feel confident about nominating their businesses for awards for the limited travel services provided in 2021, through to 2022 holidays taking place up to 2nd October.
Once approved, all companies who register will receive the new British Travel Awards official “nominated” logo, this can be used immediately as part of B2C marketing. Before consumer voting commences registered companies will be sent a “click to vote” logo, with link to their unique direct voting app to encourage votes.
Consumer voting will be open from 4th July until 2 October 2022, and the British Travel Awards Gala Event to announce the 21 / 22 winners will take place in London in November. Consumer voting will again be promoted via the BTA database and in conjunction with consumer media partner Reach PLC, across their national, regional and digital platforms.
