Example destinations and shore experiences

Stockholm, Sweden

  • Stockholm – where the Baltic meets Lake Malaren – is approached through 14 spectacular islands and small islets. The heart of this famous city is its medieval quarter which dates from the 13th Century. Here you can stroll through narrow cobbled streets lined with quirky shops and atmospheric cafes.
  • Example shore experience: Explore the city’s many waterways in a glass-topped sightseeing boat, which will give you the best views of Stockholm’s architecture and some of the 40 elaborate bridges which link its islands.

Tallinn, Estonia

  • A UNESCO World Heritage Centre, Tallinn’s Old Town is a mix of Gothic spires, cobbled alleyways and pastel-painted merchants’ houses. Visit the workshops in Catherine’s Passage to watch artisans creating leatherwork, jewellery and ceramics, or sit at a pavement cafe while enjoying alfresco performances from brass bands, string quartets and strolling players.
  • Example shore experience: Take time to visit some of the city’s most spectacular architecture with a trip to Baroque Toompea Castle (home of the Estonian Parliament) and the elaborate Gothic façade of the 13th century Raekoda, Europe’s oldest town hall.

Copenhagen, Denmark

  • Copenhagen was the adopted home of Hans Christian Andersen – commemorated in the waterfront sculpture of his Little Mermaid.
  • Example shore experience: Visit Tivoli Gardens, where you can soar above the city in a hot air balloon suspended from a Ferris Wheel. Since it opened in 1843, the park has served as inspiration for the likes of Hans Christian Andersen and Walt Disney and has been a haven for locals and visitors alike.
