The Beaches and Bays of Secrets Mallorca Villamil Resort & Spa – Classic Collection Holidays
Paguera
A cluster of inviting white sand beaches and sparkling bays, offering plenty of opportunities for a cooling dip in the Mediterranean, converge on the seaside town of Paguera. Place a clockface on this particular corner of south west Mallorca, and you’ll find Costa de la Calma at three o’clock, Santa Ponsa at five o’clock and Cala Fornells at eleven o’clock. Paguera sits proudly at noon. Private houses, their signature ochre-coloured barrel roof tiles, faded by decades of Balearic sun, co-exist happily alongside unobtrusive resort hotels which have been welcoming predominantly European holidaymakers since the late 1950’s. Over the years shops, restaurants, cafes and bars have sprung up and settled.
Secrets Mallorca Villamil Resort & Spa
At the heart of all this, you’ll find Secrets Mallorca Villamil Resort & Spa, separated from the broad sweep of Palmira beach by its own established, private gardens and steps which lead down to the Carrer Passarells pedestrianised promenade. This stately hotel first opened its doors in 1955 but was the subject of a multi-million pound restoration and refurbishment as recently as 2019. This adult-only property makes an imposing seafront statement, its glorious castellated architecture mixing contemporary décor with exposed stone interiors, archways and columns, as it rises up from within formal gardens and a healthy green canopy of mature trees. The elegant terrace and outdoor pool feature commanding beach and sea views, which can also be enjoyed from a coterie of Balinese beds.
Guestrooms & suites
Guestrooms and suites, totalling 162, range from standard doubles to deluxe, swim up, junior suites and master suites where the décor marries warm woods with subtle, neutral, and natural tones, and traditional furnishings are complemented by in-room tablets, Nespresso machines, and rainfall showers. Most rooms and suites feature a private balcony or terrace, all have sea views. For an indulgent stay upgrade to a Preferred Club swim-up room, where a refreshing dip in the pool is never more than a bathrobe drop away. Ocean front rooms also come highly recommended.
Unlimited luxury all inclusive
With the hotel’s Unlimited Luxury all inclusive option everything is included with your stay, from the best-in-class service, gourmet restaurants and branded drinks to endless day and night-time activities and 24 hour room service. With other board arrangements including bed and breakfast and half board dining, you can customise your stay to best meet your needs and preferences.
Select Preferred Club benefits
Upgrade to Preferred Club room or suite for benefits which include personalised check-in and check-out, dedicated concierge, upgraded toiletries, in-room minibar replenished daily with soft drinks and beers, breakfast in a private part of the World Café restaurant, access to the private Preferred Club solarium and Preferred Club Lounge with afternoon hors d’oeuvres, pillow menu and linen spray.
Dining & Drinks
From casual beachside dining to more formal affairs, there’s a world of choice offered by no fewer than six restaurants and four bars. Start with breakfast at World Café. Barefoot Grill, offers casual light lunches and snacks in a beach setting. Olio serves Mediterranean dishes by the pool, while more formal dining is at Seaside Grill, in a splendid setting overlooking the sea, and Gohan where Asian cuisine, sushi and vegetarian dishes take centre stage. Or kick-back at Coco Café. Sundowners are almost de rigueur at the roof terrace’s Sky Bar, where cocktails and live music mix at sunset. Refresh during the day at Sugar Reef beachside bar and Barracuda pool bar and head to the Piano Bar for a chilled evening’s entertainment.
Spa and wellness experience
The Secrets Spa by Natura Bissé offers rejuvenating body and facial treatments, soothing hydrotherapy treatments and relaxing massages. There’s an indoor pool with whirlpool tubs, a sauna, and steam bath. If you prefer a more active approach to wellness, the gym includes treadmills, exercise bikes, weights, outdoor Pilates and stretching classes.
Explore
If you’re looking to explore a little further afield, Port d’Andratx, is 10km from the hotel. Formerly a fishing village, it is now a bustling town where bars and restaurants line the water’s edge. The capital city of Palma is 25km distant, providing plenty of historical and cultural sites, superb shopping and Michelin-starred dining opportunities, galleries and bars.
