Vietnam Airlines officially trials the IATA Travel Pass

Friday, Jul 09, 2021 0

Vietnam Airlines will officially implement the trial of the IATA Travel Pass on two flights numbered VN301 from Narita Airport (Tokyo, Japan) to Da Nang on July 15 and July 23, 2021. This step is to concretize the agreement signed in May between the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and Vietnam Airlines.

Eligible passengers need to be 18 years old and above, and get a negative Covid-19 result from any eligible clinics based on the IATA lab registry. Passengers wishing to participate can register on Vietnam Airlines website at least 3 days before departure date, download the IATA Travel Pass application to their mobile phones, create their digital passport and enter flight information.

During the trial, passengers will still have to present hardcopy test results at the request of authorities in the destination country. In order to facilitate use of the application for passengers, Vietnam Airlines has provided  instructions here: https://www.vietnamairlines.com/vn/en/plan-book/experience/iata-travel-pass

At the final step of the testing process, passengers need to complete a survey to help improve the customer experience. First 30 passengers who complete the survey on Vietnam Airlines’ IATA Travel Pass test flights in July will receive a Titanium Lotusmile membership card.

Currently, more than 70 airlines are trialing or  have committed to trial the IATA Travel Pass. The IATA Travel Pass enables passengers to share the test and vaccination certificates and securely manage their travel in line with government requirements. This will be important for governments that are likely to require either verified testing or vaccination proof as a condition of international travel during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. It will be more secure and efficient than current paper processes.

Vietnam Airlines hopes that the successful trial of the IATA Travel Pass will serve as a basis for the Government to consider and recognize this mechanism widely, creating momentum for the resumption of international travel in the future.
