Traveling by train in Europe is child’s play
There’s a world to discover with Eurail

Eurail is for all ages. In fact, it’s the best way to explore Europe for the entire family as children under 12 can travel for free, and travelers over 60 get a 10% discount.

All generations can travel for less with Eurail

One of the best advantages of targeting families to travel by train with Eurail is that each adult with a Eurail Pass can travel with up to two children for free (airfares not included). Everyone is invited: parents, grandparents, and even distant cousins can ride the rails together.

Exclusive reasons to endorse family travel with Eurail

  • Each adult Eurail Pass holder can travel to 33 countries with two children for free.

  • Large families are rewarded with extra savings. Let’s say you sell Eurail Passes to a family consisting of two parents and two grandparents; up to eight children in one family can tag along for free.

  • Children under four travel for free and don’t need a Eurail Pass (book a seat reservation if you want a separate child seat on high-speed and night trains).

  • Children aged 4 to 11 can travel for free with a Child Pass.

  • Travelers aged 12 to 27 can travel with a discounted Youth Pass.

  • 10% discount for travelers over 60 with the Senior Pass.

  • Pass sales tend to be a high-value transaction on rail Pass sales.

More reasons for families to travel by train with Eurail

Anyone with a spirit of adventure has dreamed of taking a Grand Tour of Europe. And now your clients can make their dreams a reality (for their children too) with the Eurail Pass.

Train travel gives them the freedom to move around and stretch their legs or enjoy a snack in the restaurant coach while on the move. What’s more, they can make their way to the train station to board most trains in a stress-free manner without having to wait in line, check their bags, or show any documentation until the train departs (some international trains require passengers to clear customs before boarding).

Fun for the whole family on Swiss & Austrian trains

Eurail Pass holders with small children can experience a playground on wheels in the family coach on SBB’s long-distance, double-decker InterCity trains in Switzerland or ÖBB’s Railjet routes in Austria.

Austria: The family zone on ÖBB’s Railjet trains has a fully-integrated children’s cinema and table games area in the last second-class carriage on routes run by Railjet. Alternatively, you can find a toddler compartment on many of ÖBB’s Eurocity, Intercity, and Intercity-Express trains; they offer a safe space for small children to play while the parents can relax and enjoy the view.

Switzerland: Tell your clients to look for the jungle or dragon stickers on the outside of the train before entering the Ticki Park family coach (located in the middle of the upper deck). Kids can run and play to their heart’s content, while the parents sit back and watch the world go by from the comfort of their seats.

Swiss Delights itinerary for families

To make the most of your time in Switzerland, here’s an example route to enjoy the IC trains with an onboard family coach.

Zurich: Start your trip by strolling along the Bahnhofstrasse, a world-class shopping boulevard that will delight your senses, or let the children let off steam in the car-free Old Town.

Basel: Take an unforgettable expedition at Basel Zoo and spend a whole day looking for baby animals; don’t forget to make a beeline for the Hogwarts-style Owlery.

Bern: Swim in the azure blue Aare River in summer, or go sledding at Gurten Hill in winter. Don’t forget to take a teddy and a picnic to BearPark (but don’t feed the Bernese bears).

Interlaken:  Head to Switzerland’s sports mecca for some world-class snowboarding runs in winter or sail across the sparkling Brienz and Thun lakes in summer.

Bern: Head back to Bern to connect with a long-distance train with a family coach to complete your trip to Geneva.

Geneva: End your trip by drinking Swiss Rivella or hot chocolate on a nice terrace. Make lasting memories for your children by taking family photos with the stunning French and Swiss Alps as the backdrop.
