Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, participates in one of the world’s largest international exhibitions for the MICE tourism industry — IMEX Frankfurt 2026. The event takes place from May 19 to 21, 2026, in Frankfurt am Main, Germany.
IMEX Frankfurt is recognized as one of the leading global platforms for the MICE industry, annually bringing together more than 13,000 industry professionals, including international event organizers, corporate buyers, tourism boards, convention bureaus, and industry companies from over 100 countries worldwide. IMEX records tens of thousands of business meetings focused on strengthening international cooperation and attracting major events to participating destinations.
Astana’s participation in IMEX Frankfurt 2026 continues the city’s strategic efforts to position the capital as an international hub for business and event tourism. Today, Astana demonstrates steady growth in the international events sector and continues to strengthen its position within the global meetings and events industry.
According to 2025 latest data on MICE, Astana hosted 189 business events with a total audience exceeding 150,000 participants. Last year, the city welcomed a number of major international events, including Digital Bridge, the IFLA World Library and Information Congress, the Walter E. Dandy World Neurosurgical Association Congress, the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, Astana Finance Days, as well as industry forums focused on economics, technology, medicine, and industry.
The growth of business tourism is also reflected in the increasing visitor numbers. In 2025, Astana welcomed 1.19 million tourists, representing a 9% increase compared to the previous year, with 31% of visits related to business purposes.
During IMEX Frankfurt 2026, Astana will present to the international business travel trade the city’s tourism and business potential. The presentation includes the city’s modern event venues, hotel infrastructure, transport accessibility, and extensive experience in hosting international forums, sports competitions, and cultural events involving foreign delegations.
As part of the exhibition program, the delegation of Astana will also hold meetings and negotiations with international partners to discuss opportunities for attracting new international events to the city and expanding global cooperation in the field of business tourism.
