The 15th Annual Rio Grande Valley (RGV) Birding Festival will be held November 5-9, 2008 in Harlingen, Texas. Birders will soon flock to the most southern tip of Texas for guided field trips, educational seminars, exciting workshops, and the opportunity to interact with leading experts in the world of ornithology.
Father Tom Pincelli, a founder and current President of the popular festival, said “The Rio Grande Valley is internationally recognized for its amazing diversity of bird species. Our line-up of excellent guides who know the area, know their birds and have years of experience is what makes this festival one of the most popular among birdwatchers.â€
The 21 field trips and nine seminars will conclude with two international bird watching options: a 14-day birding trip to the tropics of Ecuador, S.A., or a five day birding trip to a biosphere reserve in Mexico. “We have everything from canoeing the Rio Grande, to a Gulf of Mexico pelagic trip, to birding 101 in the field,†said Pincelli. “If you are an advanced birder in search of a specific species or simply would like to introduce your child to the sport of birding, the RGV Birding Festival has something for you.â€
In addition to guided field trips, the festival will include a series of seminars and activities for children. A large trade show will host representatives from major optics companies, nature artists, the latest field guides and birding literature, and the means to make your yard and home birding friendly.
