$7,000 a night cruise

That’s what Seabourn says it will cost for its 450-passenger Seabourn Odyssey, set to launch in 2009.

Billed as the “world’s most luxurious cruise vessel,” the much-awaited ship will start at $1,290 per cabin per night. And that’s just the cheap seats. The better cabins on the ship will cost as much as $7,035 per night.

Wire services say the Seabourne is the first ultra-luxury ship to launch in six years.

What does $7,000 a night get you?

Seabourn says cabins will ooze luxury and sophistication, with such rarities on space-starved ships as bathrooms containing separate tubs and showers. Guest rooms will be stocked according to requests.  There’ll also be flat screen TVs and the type of luxury amenities increasingly being found in hotels.

Notable public areas of the $250 million ship include a super-sized spa — the biggest ever on a luxury ship, says Seabourn.
