US trade group Airlines for America (A4A) has sign a memorandum of understanding with the China Air Transport Association (CATA) to give US-China tourism a boost.
The two groups will work toward promoting air travel and general tourism.
"The US and China represent two of the most significant global aviation markets around the world. We look forward to our continued efforts to promote and facilitate travel and tourism opportunities between the United States and China," said CEO of A4A, Nicholas Calio.
Calio said the agreement simply formalizes its long term relationship with CATA.
"It creates a platform for A4A and CATA to further engage on issues impacting their member airlines and the global aviation community," A4A said.
This year was designated China-US tourism year, with Sino-American tourism promotion events already taking place in both countries.
China was the number two country for visitor spending in the US in 2014 with an estimated $23.8 billion.
Just released figures show Chinese tourists spent $215 billion during overseas trips in 2015, according to a report from the World Travel & Tourism Council.
"The US-China Tourism Year will foster continued tourism cooperation for both countries and help each leverage the power of travel and tourism as an economic driver. The initiative nurtures our on-going partnership with a mutually beneficial focus on tourism for both countries," said Chris Thompson, president and CEO of Brand USA, at a recent event to mark the year-long cooperation between the nations.
