ABTA chief steps in for tsunami debate
The Tourism Society has added an emergency debate to its annual ‘Prospects for Tourism’ meeting to discuss the impact on tourism of the tsunami in Asia.
Members of the audience will be able to quiz ABTA chief executive Ian Reynolds and the special advisor to the Secretary General of the UN World Tourism Organisation, Geoffrey Lipman,, on their thoughts about the impact of the disaster and the recovery effort.
The meeting is being held on Monday, January 10 at the Sofitel St James Hotel in London from 18.30.
The meeting is being chaired by Wallace Arnold Holidays trade relations director, Bill Maxwell, and speakers include Ukinbound chief executive Stephen Dowd, Harvey World Travel managing director John Donnelly and Business Tourism Partnership chairman Michael Hirst. In addition to discussing the tsunami in Asia, the Society hopes to cover domestic, inbound and outbound tourism and business tourism.
