ABTA Convention welcomes more agents

Monday, 25 Nov, 2005 0
ABTA Convention special report: Around 80 more travel agents are attending this year’s ABTA Convention compared with last year.

ABTA spokesman Keith Betton said 380 retailers were in Marrakech, largely due to the fact that 185 of them had been sponsored by various companies. Last year 300 were in Orlando, with only 73 sponsored by suppliers.

“We would like more agents, but the universe is shrinking and the ABTA membership is declining.” he said. “It’s encouraging that many more have been sponsored this year and we would like to see more of that in future.”

Of the 1,600 delegates in Marrakech, 220 are tour operators and 630 are other suppliers.
