ACCC grants new five-year Asia-Australia Jetstar tie-up
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has reauthorised Qantas and Jetstar Airways’ operational coordination with two Asia based Jestar airline brands.
The ACCC said it can collaborate on flight scheduling, sales and pricing with Jetstar Asia and Jetstar Japan.
A previous interim authorization is now officially valid for five years.
“We believe it provides consumers with a wider choice, enhanced services and more convenient flight times,” the ACCC said.
The ACCC granted authorization for five instead of the 10 years requested ‘given the dynamic and rapidly evolving nature of the travel industry,’ it said.
