Adelaide airport finally good to go
DOMESTIC flights finally began from Adelaide Airport’s $260 million terminal yesterday, with new QantasLink services set to pump more than $10 million in tourism spending into the SA economy.
QantasLink has started two new services to Kangaroo Island – a daily Adelaide-Kingscote service and, from today, a twice-weekly Melbourne-Kingscote route, the first direct link from Melbourne to KI.
It also will operate an Adelaide-Port Lincoln service five times a week.
In total, it will mean 2700 extra seats per week in the air from 58 services.
South Australian Tourism Commission chief executive Bill Spurr said “For the first time, the major regional drawcard of Kangaroo Island taps into the international distribution system of Qantas,” you can’t underestimate the huge benefits.”
Qantas executive general manager regional airlines Narendra Kumar said the services would cater to a growth market.
“The new direct service from Melbourne to Kangaroo Island will provide a new point of access to the international and domestic traveller seeking to explore this increasingly popular eco-destination,” he said.
