Adria Airways flights grounded
Adria Airways has grounded most of its flights for at least the next two days while it seeks fresh funding.
The Slovenian airline, which flies to Manchester in the UK and was about to launch flights to Liverpool, said it had insufficient funds to continue operations.
It has temporarily grounded most of its flights today and on Wednesday, with the exception of two routes between Slovenia and Frankfurt.
Adria, a member of the Star Alliance, said it couldn’t guarantee flights will resume.
In a statement, Adria said that as of 11.30pm on Monday that it had temporarily ceased most operations from its three bases – its main Ljubljana hub, and two operations in the Albanian cities of Pristina and Tirana.
The decision to temporarily cease flight operations is a consequence of currently unsecured access to fresh cash, which the airline needs for further flight operations," it said.
The company is at this point intensively searching solutions in cooperation with potential investor. The goal of everyone involved is to make Adria Airways fly again and that ceasing of operations is indeed temporarily."
