Aer Lingus launches Ireland's first direct service to Miami

Aer Lingus has launched Ireland’s first direct scheduled service to Miami.

The flight, out of Dublin Airport, is the airline’s 13th direct route to North America.

Aer Lingus expects the service to be popular among connecting passengers from Britain due to the fact passengers can pre-clear US Customs and Immigration in Ireland, allowing them to pass through domestic channels upon landing for a smooth and swift arrival in the US.

Miami-Dade aviation director Emilio T. Gonzlez said: "In addition to becoming Miami International Airport’s 22nd European route, Dublin will be the airport’s first pre-clearance trans-Atlantic destination – allowing passengers to clear customs before they leave Ireland and arrive in Miami as domestic fliers."

Aer Lingus offers connections to Dublin from 18 UK airports.

One-way fares to Miami start at £199.
