Wednesday, 30 September 20153 min read
Kazakhstan carrier Air Astana announced it has passed the Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) conducted by the International Air Transport Association for the fifth time.
The biennial audit covers almost 1,000 IOSA standards across airlines operations including management functions, flight operations and flight dispatch, maintenance, flight crew operations, ground handling, and security.
"We are pleased to have yet again successfully completed IATA’s Operational Safety Audit," said Peter Foster, Air Astana president.
The next audit is due in 2017.
Air Astana, a joint venture between Kazakhstan’s national wealth fund and UK defence firm BAE Systems, was established in 2002 and currently serves 60 international and domestic routes from hubs in Almaty and Astana.
It was the first carrier from Russia, the CIS and Eastern Europe to be awarded a four-star rating by Skytrax.
