Air Canada is halting daily flights to New York JFK, citing inconvenient slot timings.
The airline said it will end its twice daily JFK flights from Toronto on April 3 and instead focus on its operations at LaGuardia and Newark.
"As JFK offers limited options for convenient arrival and departure times due to slot constraints, we have elected to re-focus on our main New York City-area operations at LaGuardia and Newark," spokesman John Reber told USA Today.
"As a result, we will be increasing capacity by adding daily round-trips to Newark from Toronto and Montreal and operating larger Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft to LaGuardia."
Once the changes take effect Reber says it will operate 240 round trip flights a week from its Toronto, Montreal, Calgary and Vancouver hubs to the new York area.
Air Canada’s Star Alliance partner United Airlines also pulled out of JFK last year to consolidate flight operations at its Newark hub.
