Air China resuming Beijing-KL flights

After a three-year hiatus, Air China plans to restart Beijing-Kuala Lumpur flights.

According to overseas sales senior manager Zhang Yun, the airline will fly the route four times a week beginning October 25.

The route will be served by Airbus A330 aircraft.

"Malaysia is a beautiful country. We hope by plying this route again, new energy will be injected into the travel market," Zhang said during a Malaysia-China travel trade meeting alongside newly appointed Tourism Malaysia chairman Wee Choo Keong.

The resumption of flights has been warmly welcomed by travel agencies, but the thorny issue of simplifying visa applications for Chinese visitors was again raised.

Mei Ge, general manager of Shenzhen Junjie International Travel Service Co called for the introduction of e-visa or visa on arrival.

"Waiving the visa application fee is not a key factor – convenience in obtaining the visa is more important. It will be much easier if tourists could submit their applications online, or apply for visa on arrival in Malaysia."
