AirAsia plans electric air taxi services
AirAsia Aviation Group is eyeing a move into the air taxi market. It signed a MoU to lease 100 VX4 electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. The non-binding deal was signed with leasing company Avolon.
AirAsia wants to become a leading player in the urban air mobility market in Southeast Asia, it said. Avolon and AirAsia will work together to seek local certification. It expects to launch eVTOLs by 2025.
