AirAsia Group CEO Tony Fernandes says the airline is looking to resume long haul flights to Europe.
Fernandes said London will be the likely first European route for AirAsia X flights.
AirAsia last operated flights to London and Paris in 2012 after enduring losses due to the lack of fuel efficient jets.
Now that it has purchased 55 wide-body Airbus A330neo aircraft, it can make the route work, Fernandes said.
“What I’ve been getting thousands of tweets on…is to restart Europe early next year now we have the right aircraft to do that,” Fernandes said.
Speaking of the ongoing search for remaining bodies at the Flight QZ8501 crash site in the Java Sea, Fernandes said it would probably be called off within the next 10 days.
